Brandywine River Hotel

The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. The location worked well with my weekend plans. The lobby was welcoming, with a fireplace burning.

I have nothing negative to say about my stay.

The bed in the King suite was phenomenal - the property and room were quiet

The breakfast was not good - the coffee was weak and cold - the eggs were old and discolored- the waffle maker was an ancient piece of junk that didn't work and who serves carrots and grapes for fruits

I enjoyed being able to get in our room with a remote access link for our phone. There were several restaurants nearby, and a high quality coffee place.

The TV was very outdated and we couldn’t access apps nor stream anything. Only commercial channels and the image didn’t fill the screen. The fridge didn’t have a freezer.

We booked the Premium Suite (Room 206) for a Friday evening stay. We checked in at approximately 7pm and quickly noticed several cleanliness and maintenance concerns. The flooring appeared dirty; after wiping a few areas with a damp bath towel, the towel showed visible dirt residue. We also observed hair on the floor, dust accumulation, and worn furnishings. We returned to the front desk and asked to see another room. We were shown two additional rooms (116 and 127), both of which had similar or worse issues. One room had visible ceiling patching consistent with a prior leak and debris on the floor. We documented the conditions with photos at the time of check-in. Because of the condition of all rooms presented, we declined to stay and left the property within about an hour. The front desk initially indicated a refund might be possible and contacted the owner, but we were ultimately told a refund could not be issued due to the cancellation policy, even though we did not stay overnight. Based on the condition of multiple rooms we were shown, the issues did not appear limited to a single room. We hope the property addresses these maintenance and cleanliness concerns so future guests do not have a similar experience. The surrounding area was also not as expected. The parking lot is on a steep incline, and nearby storefronts appeared mostly closed or inactive during our visit.

The hotel was easy to get to, and conveniently located to shopping a couple nice restaurants literally steps away. It was quiet. Check in/out a breeze. Cute older hotel in great condition. Wasn't the same old hotel experience.

The beds/pillows were not that comfortable.
