Motel 6-Elmsford, NY - White Plains

In the location we needed to be

It’s exactly what you would expect a Motel 6 to be. Pretty run down, smokers rooms, sheets had rips in them and weird stains. We stayed for one night because it was close to the event we were at.

The location was great. About a 10 min drive to Tarrytown/sleepyhollow. The room was spacious and clean. Comfortable bed. Even though it’s close to the road , it was very quiet and we didn’t hear any cars or noises. Free parking.

Didn’t have a fridge but that’s not a big deal.

Where to begin. The accommodation was ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE and did not reflect the standards or conditions advertised on either Motel 6 website or Booking.com. Upon arrival, we discovered that the room was in an extremely poor and unhygienic condition. Despite booking a non-smoking room, there was an overwhelming smell of stale smoke. The lock on the main bedroom door was broken, with loose screws hanging out, compromising our safety. The bathroom had visible black mould crawling up the walls, and several ceiling tiles were cracked and poorly taped together. Rubbish had been screwed up and left on the floor between the beds, clearly indicating that the room had not been cleaned or prepared for guests. The bedding on both beds was in a totally unacceptable state - worn, stained, and covered in cigarette burn marks. The overall condition of the room made us feel really UNSAFE AND UNCOMFORTABLE, to the point that we had no choice but to leave immediately and secure emergency accommodation elsewhere after being told there were no refunds. The property’s listing and photographs on Booking.com are highly misleading and do not accurately represent the true condition of this accommodation. As two female travellers, this experience left us feeling vulnerable and deeply disappointed that such a property is endorsed - PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE. Given the severe discrepancy between the advertised and actual conditions, and the fact that Motel 6 charged us TWICE for this booking on two seperarate cards for some reason, we were forced to put a formal complaint in which is still being dealt with apparently. We hope that this property will be reviewed as a matter of urgency to prevent future guests from having a similar experience. All in all, we're shocked that somewhere like this is actually operating and getting away with it.

The room needs some serious cleaning - like on door surfaces etc - all in all, hotel could use an upgrade

Great location. It’s near Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow.

Looks like the ceiling above us was about to open cos there were leak markings so my boyfriend and I slept facing the headboard instead. Lol.

Proximity to destination

When we arrived we were told that the non-smoking room with two queen beds that we reserved w was no longer available and we were being moved to a smoking room instead. Due to Asthma & Allergy‘s this change was unacceptable. They instead placed us in a non-smoking room with two clean beds that had a leaking shower. The water leaking was so hot. It caused the entire room to steam up. The room smelled moldy. We did not feel safe opening the windows in this neighborhood as to mom‘s traveling with our two sons. We definitely will not book at this location again. Please be advised that they are not honoring reservations booked in advance

Easy check in and out. Pleasant employees.
