The National Hotel

Excellent location. Room small but nice. Bed very comfortable.

Didn’t bother us but I did not know there was not an elevator. I may have missed it in the description. We were ok with steps. Just fyi. No check in desk. Nobody at a front desk. Just a key box return.

Great room, very spacious and clean. Parking was available behind the hotel which was convenient. We had to search for someone to check us in and no one was on the premises at checkout. They do have a key drop by the front door but there was no one available if you needed anything before 12noon.

The bed was very comfortable. The shower was nice. The layout of the room was nice. The location was great and parking was very easy once I knew where to go.

For the price, I simply expected more. There was no front desk making check-in awkward and check-out baffling. The furniture in the room looked cheap: the night stands were small and extremely tacky, making the lamps look comically large; in the bed room, there was one tiny rug on one side of the bed that still had creases in it and looked like it came from a hardware store, no rug would have looked better; the vanity lights and the bathroom mirror were widely misaligned; half the hangers in the closet came from a dry cleaner; instead of a dresser there was a cabinet designed to store 16 pairs of shoes. I wish there was counter space in the bathroom. I wish there was a full-length mirror. I wish there was a luggage stand or a desk or a table or something. I wish there was a coffee maker in the room or at least coffee available downstairs.

The rooms were so well-appointed, spacious, and relaxing and the location and character of the building were a bonus.

I was confused as part of the draw was the locals basement dive bar, but this seemed to no longer be in operation. The on-site restaurant and bar on the ground floor were very good, just not what we were expecting.

Lovely decor, great food, wonderful people, perfect location for walking down town and exploring. I love the Asian cuisine offered, and the cocktails were top notch. The linens were of the highest quality as well.

It would be nice if the room was warm prior to arriving. I miss coffee in the morning. I would enjoy a little coffee pot in the room.
