Culture Plaza Hotel Zhejiang

We visited this hotel in September 2014. I was staying with friends, and when she arrived, it felt great. In the lobby, there is a small café which sells delicious pastries and desserts, however, they are a bit expensive. A tip for new travelers: you need to find a way to get breakfast on your own; the breakfast isn't very good. It's only Chinese food. Everything else is great. The dinner was the best, seafood!

Upon arrival we saw a nice lobby, but our room had a dirty and torn carpet and a chair in similar situation, it smelled from cigarettes smoke, so we asked to change to non smoking room. This time we received a smaller room, with suitcase stand that collapsed upon putting my suitcase on it, I got angry and asked to upgrade to a better room. I offered to pay more money for it, but the receptionist said that there is no such room available. I called my booking agent, and she called the hotel manager and immediately we were upgraded to an executive room. This room was indeed much better with clean carpet nothing broken, a very big and comfortable bed, pillow selection a personal computer and more modern and bigger flat TV. All and all the hotel is not in great shape and need some maintenance. For example while I used the WC near the lobby, one cell had no light the other did not flush the water, and the third had a missing lock on the door! The hotel is located in relatively poor neighborhood, 20 minutes by car from the west lake. There are some shops, supermarkets and fast food restaurants nearby, but do not expect a word in English anywhere… The reception clerks could also barley speak English, and in the Chinese restaurant in the 5th floor no one could understand us, luckily their (thick and big) menu contained pictures and translation to English, (very impressive selection of Chinese food!!). The bathroom is big, but the water pressure in the top shower was very poor perhaps because the room is in the 21st floor. (There is no hand shower). The breakfast is good, has a lot of variety, mostly Chinese taste, and some western as well. All and all I would not rate it as a 4 stars hotel, its feels more like 3.5 stars, the price is low but you get what you pay for, I would not recommend this hotel and I will not stay there again.

I normally stay in the budget hotels when I visit Hangzhou, this time I stepped it up a star by going to the Culture Plaza Hotel. First impression was "Wow, that is the biggest bed I have ever seen!" Great room, clean and big. Staff was very helpful and spoken English. My only problem was with the location, you need to take a short bus or taxi ride to get anywhere interesting. There was a convenience store nearby, but not much else, take it as a positive note, it's a bit quieter than other places. I'd go here again.

Nice Hotel biggest bed I have ever seen and a bit on the hard side like most beds in China you do get use to them after some time. Nice breakfast and lobby. Busy street out the front but you only have a short walk to convenient store if you need any thing would stay hear again short taxi drive to the famous West Lakes.

The hotel is owned by the adjoining bookstore so every room has it's own library and some of them are in English. The rooms are very 'western business' though ours and the bathroom were BIG. On the big theme we had the biggest hotel bed we have ever seen - you could put 4 pillows across the bed and still have space. There were also two large armchairs a desk and Internet connections. The room initially smelt of stale tobacco but a call to reception quickly brought up the maid with an air freshener. Some of our travelling companions had a little air-con trouble the first night which resulted in all of our 28 strong group getting a complimentary fruit bowl the following evening. The hotel sits on a main road in the very modern Technology District so it's a short taxi ride either to Hangzhou's famed West Lake or back in to the city centre. Highly recommended.

房間對着馬路很吵尤其早上. 房內沒有空調,交涉後只有把風扇.

大體來講是不錯的，但暖氣比較不暖，我是2013年02月08～10日入住，碰到下雪，感覺有點冷......

Stayed here for a three night stay in Hangzhou. It is a simple 4 star hotel in an okay location about a 30 min walk from the West Lake. I wish now i'd stayed somewhere a bit closer but I had a very pleasant stay in this hotel. The staff spoke good English when I checked in. I am pleased i checked they had given me a non smoking room as the lobby etc was rather smokey. Got a very good rate of £35 a night including breakfast on trivago. The room was a good size with two small free bottles of water, a kettle and cups. I was on the 16th floor and the room was very quiet and I wasn't bothered at all. The free wifi was only available in the lobby. Breakfast was average. The western style stuff didn't look that great. I like the freshly cooked eggs and chinese noodle soups. It felt odd have noodles for breakfast but the fried noodles an vegetable were really good. I also visited the chinese restaurant on the fifth floor which isn't run by the hotel. It was really lovely. They didn't speak any english but had a menu with english and with some basic sign language i made myself understood.

This was one of the best hotels that I stayed in in China. The staff in general could understand English. Room service was fast and efficient. Hotel is situated within walking distance of various shops and tourist attractions. BBC World Service available on TV. They really put in an effort to accommodate all tastes during breakfast.
