Residence Inn by Marriott Daytona Beach Speedway/Airport

Great stay

We stayed at this Residence Inn in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for five nights while attending a Travel Ball Memorial Weekend tournament for our grandson's team, which our son coaches. We chose not to stay at the same hotel as the team so we were the only people in our group to stay here. My husband has been in the Marriott frequent stay program since 1984 and is a high level so we chose this location in order to get the points. We didn't really have many issues at the hotel. We enjoyed having extra room and a kitchen instead of just a hotel "room". We had a really nice ocean front balcony location on the 14th floor, which we had no complaints there. The only issue we had was something we have never faced at any Marriott location in the U. S. or outside the U. S. -- ever. The water in the shower did not warm up for a VERY long time. We found this out the hard way, then learned we needed to turn it on several minutes before we got in the shower. We still miss the daily hotel room service that has been absent since Covid. We knew the pool was not the usual "large, resort type pool" we normally see, but it didn't matter since we really didn't have time to use it anyway. We did sit poolside one day, and we didn't find the dogs that are allowed to stay on the property to be a problem "doing their business" nearby like several commenters said. They did have a good buffet breakfast every morning which was included. Of course, there were lines -- especially at first when the Black motorcycle fest was going on (which we were unaware of when we booked). Lastly, the beach is really wide and nice behind the hotel with lots of lifeguards. We are, however, accustomed to the Gulf beaches and calmer, clearer water in Florida and Alabama which we prefer, so probably would not come back here again just for the location. Unfortunately, the weather during our stay was NOT ideal. It was a good thing the Kyle Ripken ballpark where we played had turf fields.

Everything was wonderful. Especially Colette at the front desk. No one has ever been as helpful and happy as her and when she wasn’t there it was surely noticed! Eric made us fantastic breakfast every single day and was always happy as well

The hotel staff were amazing. We left the hotel early but our appointment time change , I called the front desk and asked them if we can come back and stay until check out and it was not an issue. I will be back.

We enjoyed the friendliness of the staff and cleanliness of the property i will visit again.

I liked that it was near my daughters home and newr all the shopping outlets. I did not like that the tiolet ws not working properly and after we asked for it be be fixed, it stilldid not work. Maybe old plumbing in such a nice new looking building was strange. We were VERY disappointed a genteleman at front desk who worked saturday eveing during our stay. The hotel offers BBQ Pits for grilling out by the pool so we decided to BBq. We went all to buy Ribeye steaks for our family to find out the grills were both out of propane. We asked the guy in chrage about them and he said he would ses about replacing propane or getting with a sister hotel to get propan. an hour later. Nothing. An hour and half later my husband addresses the issue and asks if there had been a resolution and if propane on way. The guy walks away never to be heard from again that evening. We ended up throwing $100 worth of steak away, packing up all our other snacks and leaving hotel at 10pm to go to my daughters apartment with our dogs. She is not allowed pets in her apartment, so this put us in a bad position. We ended up returnign to the hotel at 2apm jus to sleep. Between not being able to poop in the hotel for fear of it overflowing and ruining our weekend by having no grill after ammentiies show they have thenm was a huge bummer. We ended up losing time with our loved ones instead of enjoying it at this hotel. At check out I expected more to be doen that a waive of a pet fee of $75. Seriously.
