The bathrooms need some updating and our AC unit was not cooling down our room…. I think the property has potential to do better since they are dealing with an international clientele

"Great hotel. Horrendous TUI transfer from Skiathos!"

8.0

It would be very hard to find any fault with the Aolis Hotel. Great location, a ten minute stroll into Skopelos town. The rooms have air conditioning, are spotlessly clean and very comfortable. All the staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble for them. Breakfast is amazing, a large selection of beautifully presented hot and cold food is on offer daily. The dining room has a lovely outdoor terrace overlooking the pool to enjoy a leisurely al fresco breakfast. There is a nice pool, sunbeds, and a pool bar serving reasonably priced food and drink. I would highly recommend the hotel but respectfully suggest you book your own ferry transfer from Skiathos! I'll try and summarise....... We arrived at Skiathos Airport at 12.30pm, were forgotten by the TUI rep until approx 2pm, coach transfer to Skiathos 2.45pm (approx 20mins) , met by rep at (grotty) Fresh cafe 4.40pm to be led to the chartered boat for island transfer. Bearing in mind it was extremely hot, we had to manage our cases along very uneven pavements to the charter boat which was quite a distance from the cafe (1500 steps on my fitbit). We had to be dropped off on the other side of Skopelos because the sea was too choppy to land at the port. We arrived at the hotel approx 6pm. The return journey was equally bad. Bear in mind our flight was 1.40pm! Hotel pickup 6.20am, depart port 6.40am,drop off Skiathos 8.15 am. It was a very unpleasant choppy crossing in a relatively small boat (around 120 people size). From 8.15am to 12 noon we had to wander around Skiathos in the searing heat until we were picked up for airport transfer. Hung round airport until 1.40pm flight. The transfers arranged by TUI and their agents Dolphin are arranged to save themselves money rather than putting the clients first. Considering the relatively short distance between Skiathos airport and Skopelos the timescale is totally unacceptable. If they put an extra transfer boat on, at least three hours each way could be saved on the transfer time. Sorry about the long saga, but I had to share. If I had known about the horrendous transfer delays I would never have booked the holiday!

"Dated but still good"

10.0

It’s not pretty but it’s pretty perfect . So the decor is 1980 s Greek ie very brown . However its a five minute walk to Skopelos town the buses to the beaches and innumerable restaurants. The hotel is spotlessly clean , every member of staff is super friendly. It’s a lovely place to stay . The breakfast buffet is good very varied a smidge odd though the stuff that should be hot ie bacon scrambled eggs pancakes are stone cold . No idea why and the lady topping up does so with so much care and is so lovely you would never criticise . The hotel is across the road from a beach but it wasn’t very clean and we never used it . We used the pool on a couple days the pool bar guy was lovely and food and drink good and reasonably priced .Most days though we jumped on the bus to go to the various beaches we loved Panormos and Agnontas . Easy to access with lovely tavernas for lunch . We will go back

"Not 4 Star"

6.0

Generally tired, 3 star at best, no Gym or day food service as advertised. Pool looked murky! Was probably top class in the 90’s! Rooms and public areas were well kept.

"Excellent. No complaints."

10.0

Very happy to have stayed at this hotel. Rooms were comfortable and, with the hotel, spotlessly clean. Room had a safe and aircon. Staff very friendly and could not do enough for you. We didn’t use the pool and facilities but it looked attractive. I wouldn’t want to rely on this in peak season though, there’ll be a fight with the Germans for the limited beds. :-)

"Fabulous"

10.0

Lovely clean rooms, instant hot water, breakfast excellent with plenty of choice. Only negative the pool looks like it needs a bit of a clean. Staff very friendly but sadly not very clued up on bus times etc to access the church which is very strange as the mamma Mia church is a big pull to the island...apart from that, a great place to stay.

"Spotlessly clean hotel but slightly dated."

8.0

Nice hotel, very clean but a dated although the furniture was in mint condition. The rooms were fairly dark probably as the furnishings were dark. Small unheated pool with limited sunloungers. Hotel was around 6 minute walk to the bars and restaurants. The beach was opposite the hotel but not very nice. We stayed for a few nights which was plenty of time to check out the Island.

"Storm Daniel"

10.0

We stayed here at the beginning of September, just as storm Daniel decided to rear its ugly head. We both found the hotel to be spotlessly clean and the staff friendly. Plenty of choice at breakfast time although the toaster was a bit of an enigma. The room was big enough and the bed’s really comfy. During the storm there was power cuts but the hotel must have an emergency generator. All in all a really nice hotel which we would go back to and would recommend.

"Comfortable hotel, but a few minor issues."

6.0

We stayed at the Aeolos Hotel for a week just after Storm Daniel, and luckily the island didn't appear to have suffered in the same devastating way as Skiathos. We'd booked a sea view room, which was pleasant and had a lovely balcony/sitting out area overlooking the lawn towards the sea. However, the room was desperately "tired" and I was so disappointed not to find a kettle so that I could make a cup of tea or coffee. I don't think I can remember staying anywhere, regardless of the star rating, where a kettle hasn't been available. The bed was comfortable, but we did have to ask for extra pillows as the one pillow on the bed was too flat to sleep on. The lawn below our room had a pond with fountain, so it would have been nice if it had been filled with water and in operation. Perhaps it was because we were coming to the end of the season? Breakfast was served in a pleasant room which in the centre should have had a pond. However, this was completely empty during our stay and contained nothing other than an empty bucket which didn't look very attractive. The food at breakfast was adequate, but some of the items were over-cooked and, apart from the one day when fried eggs were available, the eggs (omelettes and scramble) were unappealing. Another mystery was the lack of a toaster. All that was on offer was a sandwich maker, that by the time you had placed a slice of bread inside, had flattened it so much it was inedible and impossible to cut. I must say that the staff who served breakfast were lovely and friendly, it was just a pity that the food offerings were below standard. This whole review sounds like a huge moan and I really don't mean to dissuade guests from staying here, it's just that there were so many little niggles that had to be noted. I must add that Skopelos is a wonderful island and we thoroughly enjoyed our week here.
