Courtyard Grand Junction

They make small multiple charges on your credit card statement of coding for multiple taxes or fees they say. They charge 10 dollars a night for parking and say Other hotels on horizon drive charge. But The other hotels do not charge parking. The rooms are nice and customer service is decent.

It was a quick check in

The rooms were clean and spacious. The lady that checked us in was so rude and had no manners whatsoever. It was so hard to get a simple thank you or you're welcome from her. She looked miserable in her job. The hotel itself was pretty good but the pool was closed, we were told it was for renovations. It was a pretty big part of our plans so we went to the pool in the hotel right next door but it was very inconvenient to walk back in the cold. It would have been good to see this as a warning before booking .

This Courtyard does not meet the standards of the overall Marriott brand and our stay fell far below our expectations. In summary, no hot water, broken ice machines, and common areas very run down. I don’t recommend anyone staying at this property. Here’s the longer story if you’re interested. The most problematic issue is we had no hot water and were never informed this might be a problem despite the staff knowing this was an issue for 3-4 days before we arrived. We were on a road trip so arrived late and went to sleep without realizing no hot water was coming in. Middle of the night hand washing was cold but didn’t think much of it. Morning came and no hot shower. Called front desk and staff said that “a few of our boilers aren’t working and some rooms aren’t getting hot water.” I asked how long the problem was going on and they said three or four days. There was no indication of this on the website nor any mention of it on checking in. BTW, no recognition of Marriott status at check in, which isn’t something I care much about, but in hindsight, it’s an indication of larger underlying problems at this property. A regional manager happened to be on site (maybe because of broken boilers and other problems?) and she kindly offered access to another room to shower. But there was no hot water in that room either. So they called next door to another Marriott property to ask if we could shower there. They did so I walked outside and across the parking lot for my shower. My wife was not up for an outdoor walk in cold weather to shower so she skipped it. Then when getting ready to go, I wanted to get ice for the cooler but the machines weren’t working. The staff gave us free breakfast and the food was very good. This property needs an owner willing to keep it maintained and updated. Booths in the restaurant are worn out, as is the carpet throughout. This was not a good stay and I would not recommend it to anyone who is expecting a stay like in other Courtyards across the country.

This property has the potential to be one of the best stays in Grand Junction. The property is unfortunately getting dated and does not appear to be being kept up to Marriott standards. I was disappointed to be hung up on when I was quoted a rate of $180 a night for a government rate and when I told the receptionist that I could get it for $117 on line at which point I was hung up on. Lastly, I was surprised to have to pay an additional $10 for parking, just not expecting that and found that out after they heard I had used Expedia to book.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Shuttle pickup to and from airport. Restaurant staff friendly and food was good.

No dislikes

Beds are too soft and room was noisy otherwise it was a nice stay
