Mijn verblijf in Grand Hotel Konya was over het algemeen zeer aangenaam. In eerste instantie verbleef ik in een standaardkamer, maar deze bleek voor mij niet aantrekkelijk genoeg. Ik heb toen gevraagd naar een upgrade en ben overgestapt naar een suite, wat zeker de moeite waard was – ondanks de extra kosten. De suite bood meer comfort en ruimte, al was er één nadeel: het klimaatbeheersingssysteem. De kamers beschikken niet over een lokale airco, enkel over een centrale verwarmingsunit. In de wintermaanden staat deze standaard op 25 graden, wat de kamer behoorlijk warm maakt – zeker met de grote glazen buitenwanden. Voor iemand die gewend is te slapen in een kamer van 18-19 graden, is dat niet ideaal. Wat het personeel betreft, niets dan lof. Vooral mevrouw Bochra (gespeld als B-O-C-H-R-A) verdient een speciale vermelding. Zij was uitermate behulpzaam, sprak uitstekend Engels en toonde echte betrokkenheid. Haar service maakte een groot verschil in mijn verblijf. Ook de schoonmaaksters waren vriendelijk, professioneel en begripvol – ze deden hun werk uitstekend. Kortom, een zeer fijn verblijf. Bij een volgend bezoek zou ik zeker weer kiezen voor een suite en niet voor een standaardkamer. Grand Hotel Konya is absoluut een aanrader – mits je weet welke kamer je moet boeken.
