Lagos Mare Hotel

We so enjoyed the location, the food and the staff of Lagos Mare. The pool area for breakfast and lounging was so relaxing. Rooms were about a 3 star but totally adequate and we slept well. The staff made our trip very special. Every one of their recommendations, from restaurants to private tours and beach clubs, were spot on. If you don’t need 5 star accommodations, but enjoy an authentic experience, book here. You can’t go wrong! And their van drivers were the best!

We had a very nice stay at the Largos Mare while in Naxos. The hotel is conveniently located across the street from the bus stop and only a short walk to a lovely beach. Our room was nice and each staff member was friendly and helpful. We had a very nice dinner at the hotel on the outside lawn and breakfast each morning was very good with lots of choices. We enjoyed the pool at the property and the lounge chairs that surrounded it. This hotel met our every expectation and we would not hesitate to return.

This isn’t the first time we’ve stayed at the Lagos Mare Hotel, located just above Aghios Prokopios Beach. The location is perfect, only 350 meters from one of the most beautiful beaches in Naxos, and centrally positioned for those who want to explore this incredible island further. The atmosphere is extremely relaxing, and the staff are very attentive to the needs of their guests. The breakfast is plentiful, with no rush, allowing you to start your day at your own pace. The “1924” restaurant offers a menu featuring Cycladic specialties and dishes inspired by Smyrna (the founder's hometown, from which he arrived in 1924), along with an extensive wine list featuring both local wines and those from other parts of Greece. The wide variety of cocktails to sip at the poolside bar is also worth noting. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a slice of the Cyclades in total relaxation.

We enjoyed our stay at Lagos Mare. The staff was very hospitable and helpful and provided great advice on what areas to visit on the island. The property was clean and conveniently located at a bus stop, near grocery stores and restaurants and within walking distance to Agios Prokopios Beach . I would this property.

Great Boutique Hotel. Restaurant is delicious and priced well. Only thing is the Air Conditioning is not very strong but it is adequate.

Tiny friendly hotel with cordial staff. Clean room and hotel. Delightful food. Nice pool with enough sunbeds and umbrellas. Copious and nice breakfast with local food. The hotel is very well located just in front of a bus stop (nice if you want to go to Naxos town, tickets are available at the reception) and ten minutes walk from one of the nicest beaches.

Not a four star hotel or experience. First, in terms of curb appeal this hotel is across from a dirt parking lot with some random cars. Second, the lobby has no AC nor does the breakfast area unless it wasn’t working when we visited. We are a family of 4 adults and the front desk offered us 2 complementary drink coupons for the pool bar for a cocktail. Not sure why they would not give us 4? We had paid for 2 separate rooms for our family. The beach is beautiful! But, a 10-15 min walk downhill which means uphill on the way back. There is no sidewalk and a lot of traffic- so you need to walk on the shoulder of the road. The hotel itself is bizarre. The way it is situated, it is squished between multiple buildings with one side under construction. So the view during breakfast was of a demolished building. While the driver was about the nicest hotel staff we meet, the front desk was not welcoming and stood there and watched us struggle up the steps with our luggage. The staff was not hospitable. The young men who worked at the bar and breakfast get an A+ for effort. How they describe themselves as a 4 star hotel is beyond me. You can do better.

I feel obligated to share our experience, especially because we’ve traveled the world and had wonderful experiences based on trip advisor reviews. I am a trusted trip advisor reviewer and user. Honestly, this hotel has some work to do. There’s a reason there is only one review for most all of 2024. When we arrived, and despite having a staff working, no one offered to help us with our luggage up the stairs. When we asked why, the front desk manager told us “ to use the ramp” . When we told the front desk manager that our sheets had holes , her response was “ please show me!” So- we delayed our trip to the beach and took her to our room to show her, and then her response was “ I don’t know how this could happen” - honestly, she could have just apologized and we’d move on. When we tried to eat at their lunch cafe, menu was super limited - no biggie- we went into town and grabbed a lovely Greek lunch. This hotel is not - is not- on the beach. It’s a 10-15 minute walk. No biggie but know it’s not beach front. Nice staff at breakfast service, they don’t seem super happy about being there but A+ for effort. Upon arriving young woman who spoke little English probably didn’t know she was telling us we could “ sit in the lobby for 3 hours until our room was ready” I think she meant to say it’ll be 3 hours for our room to be ready. The “fitness center” is a room of used, rusted and outdated gym equipment and after we found the air conditioning and turned it on, we did have space to do a light workout. There is no water and there are no towels anywhere nearby. Overall, this hotel has some work to do. It’s fine. It’s not great and they have a great opportunity to train their staff on hospitality.
