Fragrant Nature Backwater Resort & Ayurveda Spa

Lovely peacefull retreat,beautiful gardens by the lake. Good restaurant for breakfast and dinner excellent accommodation in one of the villas can't wait to go back next year but for longer

Fragrant Nature is set in a beautiful secluded location by the Paravur lake. Although the road to approach the resort is in a poor condition, once you are within their boundaries, it is an idyllic place. The swimming pool and boating facilities are good. If you are looking for lots of activities, this is not the place. The staff are very helpful, the food is good and the accomodation is very good. Although I would not rate the resort as a luxurious place, I would rate it as an excellent place for nature lovers. The pricing looks right.

It's no where near Kollam so with out a car for get about going to another place for lunch or dinner. All the amenties are perfect , beautiful place. Good place to forget that you in India. Their driver took me for back river three hour canoe ride which was an expensive waste of time. Later that day more impressed going local AC restaurant & local Hindu temple.

We took the room by the lakeview, and the view from our room was marvelous, the room was spacious and they provided daily need toiletry for free (Shaving kit, Toothbrush, Shampoo, Hair oil, Soap, Comb, Talcum powder, moisturizer). I would recommend this hotel to everyone, and its a quiet place to spend time with your loved one.

I want to qualify what a couple other reviews said about this hotel. 1) they do now serve alcohol, so don't worry about that, and they would go into town and get anything you need for you 2) It's not entirely in the middle of no where - but if you want to do a lot of sight seeing stay in Trivandrum, this is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the view. My husband and I stayed here as stop on a three week trip in Southern India and we absolutely loved it. After a week of the hustle and bustle of the city we wanted a break and this was a great place to do just that. We spent afternoons swimming in their pool and evenings relaxing and watching the sunset. Don't come here expecting to be in the middle of everything, come here to relax and enjoy. The staff is great, very attentive. It was my husbands birthday while we were there and they went above and beyond. The front desk greeted us with a bouquet, housekeeping decorated our room with flowers, and the kitchen set up a private candle lit dinner by the water for us, they even baked a full size birthday cake with his name on it. It was beyond special. The spa treatments were amazing as well, I highly recommend them. My only complaint is the food is a bit pricy for Indian standards (ask the price first if you order off the menu), but compared to Western prices it is still less than what we would pay at home. But overall I was very happy with the large variety to choose from and the food quality.

We stayed in one of the lakeside rooms, which was very nice. It was clean, comfortable and had a very nice view of the waterway. The restaurant serves very nice food and it manager was very helpful is explaining and suggesting very tasty meals. All of the staff are very helpful and professional. It has a few boats that we took out to explore the lake and waterways. We also used it as a base to visit the beach, since from our experience, the hotels on the cliffs and north of Varakala were expensive and very tacty.

Fantastic views from our room of the backwaters and the sunset. Room was spacious and comfortable although a little stuffy at times because of poor ventilation. The staff was very nice, professional and courteous.

Had a really good stay at this hotel. The views surrounding this resort were spectacular. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family. Its a good place to get away from it all. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again.

We had a nice stay in this hotel.Will definately come back again.Only thing to be improved is food and traffic. Food variety and traffic convenience is a bottleneck.

The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff were very helpful - but we were very upset when we arrived to be told that there was a compulsory 2000 rupees per person charge for the gala dinner of which we had no prior notification - and there was no other food available that night. the entertainment was extremely long winded and the food was not very good. however they describe themselves as a retreat - very appropriate. The surroundings are beautiful, the hotel is beautiful - but if you want to do anything other than enjoy the scenery - you really need a car - the place is very difficult to find and has no social entertainment at all. If this hotel provided a shuttle service to the town of Varkala it would be perfect - it is just too far out. Fantastic for meditation and total 'get away from everything' and everybody.
