Irving House at Harvard

Good location for where I needed to travel to

The AC in my single room was so strong and unadjustable that it was like sleeping in a fridge. I enquired at the front desk and was told it’s not controllable from my room and that they would look into it. It remained unresolved by the second night of my stay - thankfully I was only staying two nights. This was unexpected given I thought the Irving House prided itself on being environmentally sustainable.

It’s a great spot if you want to be close to Harvard square and are looking for reasonably priced, friendly accommodation.

I had stayed before on the first floor- this time I was on the third. I hadn’t had top of mind that I would be lugging my bag up the stairs!

The place was comfortable and homey and the staff was friendly and very relaxed. You could come and go with ease. It felt like being in someone's home rather than an AirBnB or inn. I had a shared bathroom and that was really not an issue. It was pretty much always vacant when I needed it, and it was kept clean. Staff made up my room every day even though I didn't request it, which was nice. I left my bags in the designated area after I checked out and picked them up later. I didn't need to check in with anyone and no one asked any questions which I believe is because they've never had an incident. All around very comfortable and quiet.

The breakfast was pretty good, but could have been a little better. Maybe some scrambled eggs or French toast. And perhaps some muffins or croissants would have been nice. But it was fine and I was satisfied.
