The Inn at Montpelier

Lovely charm, great staff and great location. Very good value.

The location right on Main Street, but away from downtown is ideal. The Inn was quiet (I was there on a Thursday and Friday night) and comfortable, clean and cozy. The pizza restaurant that formerly occupied the dining area downstairs has moved so evenings were less busy and quieter overall. I've stayed at the Inn several times before and each time was in a different room. They have all been clean and comfortable and I never had a problem that was a deal breaker for me to consider a return visit. The breakfast spread was more than adequate with a selection of continental and hot food offerings. The location is great whether you are there just to take in what Montpelier has to offer or if you are skiing at one of the world-class resorts in the area.

The innkeeper preemptively warned me that the room I was going to be staying in would be warm and that the entire heating system is going to be replaced. To regulate the room temperature I had to open the windows a little, which was fine, even though it was below zero overnight. In my particular room on this stay, I thought I had no hot water as the shower took almost 10 minutes to warm up. I felt like I was wasting water which I don't like to do, but had to wait for the water to at least be warm before I could get in. Parking can also be tricky especially when there is a good amount of snow. The lot holds about 10 cars and anything over that amount has to park parallel to the inn but this can prove difficult with a lot of snow.

The Inn was cute, clean, and quiet. Easily walked to downtown. Staff was kind, friendly, and competent. I was surprised by how good it was, given how affordable it was. I would 100% stay again.

The man at Check-In was friendly and patient. Speedy Internet. Much improved from a few days ago and LIKED it. Had much personal business to accomplish online including VoIP calls and got through much including getting my heat fixed, which is what sent me to this motel for several days. Getting a room on the first floor. Was in a lot of pain so not having to go upstairs was a big plus.

Someone overbaked the mini quiches but there was plenty to eat for breakfast. The gap between the bed and frame was too large. and hurt the back of my legs. Covered the gap with the extra blanket in the dresser. Lack of communication about room assignment. Housekeeping entered and I explained, "I paid for a second night and do not know if I keep this room or move." I eventually called Front Desk and got my answer.

Great value option for being within a short drive from the mountain. Everyone was so kind and the room had everything we needed. Other reviewers complained abou the heat - we were in room 8 and were great after opening windows and running the provided fan. Very close to downtown and restaurants. Not bothered by lack of elevator, it's a historic property and charming. Staff were outstanding.

Only complaint is that breakfast be ready earlier.
