Kaomai Lanna Resort

The hotel and the grounds are amazing.

When am we arrived we didn’t get any explanation of the hotel area or its history despite the fact that it’s a unesco world heritage site and like a maze. It was only after asking about it the Ohm took us on a 20 minute tour l, which we appreciated greatly. Also when I first arrived at 9:30pm after 12 hours of travel, I really just wanted a beer, but the staff refused to get one, saying the restaurant was closed. They also tried to use the excuse that it was a Buddhist holiday, which it was, but I later found out they’d been serving alcohol all day until 9pm. My room door lock was also broken, making it nearly impossible to enter the room. It was obvious it had been broken for quite some time as the staff was not surprised at all when I told them. It then took two days to get it fixed. So my first impression of this place was that the staff was disinterested in helping out other than doing the bare minimum, in fact they almost seemed to enjoy turning us down. In the end we had a good time, but we didn’t most of our time outside the hotel grounds as everything (food , massage, transportation) all cost 3-4x more at the hotel than anywhere else. For example: pad Thai, massage, car, cost $290, $1200, and $1100 respectively if booked at the hotel, whereas it costs $80, $300, and $600 respectively if booked anywhere else.

Have ants in the room Quite boring on a weekday Too far from the center, so the taxi fee is too high if we want to go back to the city It will be better if the resort has a transportation partner, so that customers can move to the center at a better price
