Shelburne Hotel

Beautiful historic maritime hotel minutes from the beach and excellent food. We loved our stay and want to go back already!

Smal trappa upp t andra våningen. Lite krångligt med resväskorna. Inte städat under sängen i mitt rum - låg ett par trosor från förra gästen antar jag.

The best of our stay was that it was a very charming historic building, staff were very welcoming, and the garden was well-kept. We chose this property above others nearby because previous reviews specified how clean it was. And while the main bedroom showed a significant amount of wear & tear, that didn't bother us. However, when we went to use the shower, we realized how absolutely filthy and smelly it was. It was no better than a public campground shower, and had very obviously not been cleaned in a long time. A very strong stench of mold & mildew stuck with me after the shower and we had to sleep with the bathroom door shut and its vent fan on, so we wouldn't smell it. The dust, grime, and cobwebs on fixtures didn't help. The bed was similar to sleeping on a futon: very hard. Also was supposed to receive a VIP upgrade but instead was situated right next to the noisy pub - our room door sandwiched closely between two public restrooms, with no privacy as diners gaze in at us on our patio. Really disappointing because we wanted very much to like the place. Sadly, we won't be back.

What a neat experience! You can feel the history of this hotel the second you walk through the doors. The old victorian charm is abundant, welcoming and such a change from the 'modern day' hotels.

Very cool hotel

Very historic. Kind staff. Early check in.

Had never stayed at Shelbourne before but it definitely has a special charm to it. It's updated, modern touch with classic old school vibes, you actually get a room key! Attic room was cozy and quiet, very restful nights sleep. Bed was comfortable and relaxing after long days. There was nobody at the front desk when I checked out early so kind of felt odd but not terribly unsafe. I have a regular place when traveling with pets and family but this was a sweet gem great for just me and my spouse.

When we got there we found out we couldn't use our gift certificate because we booked 3rd party. We did not know that at booking, so we were about to head home. The hotel staff went out of there way to accept the gift card and not charge us. What a nice and decent thing to do. I suggest booking.com tells people when they are booking that they need to tell booking they have a gift card. The description from booking led me to believe I could just show the hotel.

What a lovely and charming hotel, lovingly restored and modernized. From the ultra comfortable beds, televisions that allow you to stream from your favorite apps, heavenly clawfoot tubs, and mouthwatering food at the onsite pub. Leah at the front desk was particularly warm and welcoming, adding to our already perfect stay. Highly recommend this for a friends getaway or romantic weekend!

That was an amazing hotel, I enjoyed every minute of it. Will definitely return
