"A most pleasant location. Very rural yet close enough to connurbations such as Liverpool, Chester and Birkenhead."

7.0

Wonderful surroundings. The place has presence.

It’s starting to look a little tired in places. Some of the external woodwork starting to look tired and in need of some tlc.

"A great disappointment. Supposedly luxurious but run down"

4.0

We were very unimpressed with the state of the building. We were in a tiny room in the attic with a bathroom that had no air con or extraction or any window that would open. The main room had a single socket that was practicably useful but from which it was impossible to position a fan to point at the beds. The patio area outside had broken glass on it that they seemed oblivious to until we raised it. It was cleared up half an hour later. There was torn wallpaper in one of the corridors. Overall, the quality of the building fell below what I had experienced on previous stays. We were entitled to a 20% Expedia discount which wasn't factored into our check out bill until I queried it. Had I not queried it, I don't believe that I would have had my discount. Food quality was good. The number of unavailable items was a concern. Both of our starters were not available. At breakfast, Eggs Benedict was off because they had run out of muffins. How does a competent procurement operation run out of muffins? It's not like they have a shelf life measured in hours! The hotel is a wedding venue. The material in the bar seemed to indicate a (starting?) price of about £10,000 yet the bar could not do basic cocktails. Four were available: all from a cannister through a bartop tap. There were 3 types of Martini and a Strawberry Daiquiri. We tried the Strawberry Daiquiri and it tasted synthetic. I had stayed here before without problem but not again

"Lovely venue"

10.0

We attended a wedding here and stayed over. The room was lovely and very comfortable. The staff were excellent and everyone had a fabulous time. My only criticism would be is trying to communicate with the hotel prior to arrival. I did not receive any response to my telephone message or email, nor could I get through to the venue on the phone I was trying across for 3 days.

"Let down by bad WiFi and off bacon."

7.0

The rooms are clean, spacious and well equipped. There was plenty of coffee, tea, milk, water and biscuits. Plenty of parking. Most of staff were helpful and friendly.

Room 22 had terrible WiFi. It was vertically unusable. When checking out I was not asked how my stay was. I complained about the lack of WiFi. Sadly the breakfast was quite unpleasant. Warmed up bacon that tasted off. I could smell it as soon as the waitress brought my plate over. How this got past the chef and the waitress is gob smacking.
