Backyard Garden Oasis

We checked in super late and Greta was tremendously accommodating. The cottage was super cute and very clean. We will definitely come back!

The owner was very nice and had a sweet dog.

A bit bare bones. The breakfast for the next day was muffins and a fruit plate that was provided at check in.

Greta and her best dog, Ollie, are gracious and friendly hosts, and the place was just as described. Breakfast was a tasty pastry and a plate of fruit placed in the space every eve. Middletown is just 5 mins up the road and has markets, restaurants, a bar or two, and the basic services you would expect in a town of 1500 people.

Many things were low-level bothersome during my stay: found three spiders (two in the bed and one in bath) during my visit, my cell (Verizon) didn't work inside the space, and there are a few interior items that just need a spruce - like the broken footboard hidden under the quilt on the bed I stubbed my toe on repeatedly. I am childishly afraid of spiders, so that one I found on my pillow the first night was a stay-killer for me. This is just a tip for others - because I booked without knowing and it definitely affected the overall enjoyment of my trip: this place is NOT ideal if you plan to hit the Calistoga/Napa wineries for tastings during the day. The 25 minute drive between Calistoga and the Oasis is 13 miles of the most twisty/winding/scary road you can imagine up and down a mountain. Many of the switchbacks and turns do not have a shoulder on either side or guardrails, and there are passing lanes in hairpin turns where the posted speed is 25mph. It is NOT a safe place to drive after wine samples.

This B&B truly makes you feel like home! If you love quiet, privacy and nature, you will LOVE this place. Especially a dog owner will find this a HEAVEN for dogs. Greta the B&B owner has been incredibly courteous and kind and welcoming. But who beats Greata at hospitality is her dog Ollie. He is such a sweet & gentle co-host of the B&B. He provides free entertainment & nanny service for our dog basically, LOL! We already plan to go back there with an extended family next time. This place is also children friendly and has a very large property ground that will keep both dogs & children very happy. Can't wait for our next stay there!! Thank you Greta & Ollie. :-)

Greta is a lovely host. My partner enjoyed his birthday massage done by her. The property is lovely and private.

The bathroom door is louvered, which did not allow for privacy... I only mention this because we are a newish couple who still take care of bathroom habits privately...

Backyard Garden Oasis is a really sweet little understated set of backyard bungalows just off the highway right outside Middletown. I wasn’t really looking to be wowed by accommodations. I was looking for rest, comfort, and a home base to explore from. Greta is incredibly sweet, thoughtful, and accommodating and made sure I knew how to get everything I needed from arrival to departure. I will be back many times.

Greta and Ollie are great. Room is very comfortable and the room is oh so quiet.

Great country location for the dogs with fenced backyard area. Nice little cabin: clean, working Wi-Fi. Everything you’d pretty much want. Greta is very nice and accommodating

Breakfast is boring: fruit and a muffin. Motion sickness on the drive to/from. Please be aware that while the place is 9 miles and 20 minutes from Calistoga, it’s actually in the mountains and there’s very windy roads to get there. I got sick twice there and back as a passenger in someone else’s vehicle.
