La Flora Khao Lak

Very well located hotel on the bang Niang area. Lots of restaurants, money exchange, taverns, and night market close by within walking distance. Very nice pool area and a must have breakfast buffet.

A beachfront property with selection of different room types based around many mini freeform pools meandering through the estate. Rooms from ground floor with direct access to pools to superior rooms in blocks tto the rear and quieter area of the estate. Broad choice of breakfast with sufficient menu for lunch and dinner. Prices fair and not over priced and of good quality. Pool towels free, although there is no FREE water stations around the pools which would have been nice to be able to keep hydrated. Poolside and beach bars. Some daytime activities and also kids pools. Evening entertainment on some nights of the week. Check- in very good and room standards good but with some minor decor issues. Some rooms require you to place toilet tissue in bins and not down the toilet. A good choice for both families and couples.

We had a two week stay at La Flora in January 2026. We had booked a swim up room but were pleasantly surprised when we arrived (after an extremely stressful journey, our transfer taxi leaving us in the lurch and our baggage being lost!). We had been upgraded to a larger well situated seaside pool access room. Check in was swift and painless and we were soon being shown around the facilities in our room. The room was really spacious and clean and bright - room 8213. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable however the pillows - way too hard for us. We did ask the housekeeping staff later if there were alternative pillows but were told there wasn't any. Maybe this is something they could improve on by offering a pillow choice. There was plenty of hanging and storage space and a security safe as you enter the room. The bathroom area was spacious with plenty of space for toiletries etc. Again it was nice and clean and had two sinks, hairdryer, soaps etc. Because our luggage had been lost we had no toiletries and were in dire need of a shower. Thankfully there were vanity kits in the room so we were able to freshen up and clean our teeth at least. The shower was amazing! The housekeeping team were excellent however on several days they didn't clean our room until well after 4pm despite having put the 'make up room' sign on as soon as we had left our room for the day. Our favourite part of the bathroom - the smart toilet. I want one of these at home now! I'll leave that one there...… The TV and internet in our room never worked properly the whole time we were there. I know you don't go on holiday to watch TV but when I did want to - it was unwatchable. The internet kept dropping out too and 'engineer' came out twice but it made no difference. The patio space outside the room could do with a bit of TLC. There were a couple of broken decking boards and sadly one of our inflatables got punctured by a protruding screw however more concerning was the potential to cause harm. You just had to be mindful that they were there. The sunbeds had also seen better days and could do with being replaced. The patio area did not get any sunshine on it in the mornings but as the sun came round it was bathed in it all afternoon and was a welcome retreat from the screaming children in the main pool area..... The main pool and sunbed area - well I can only liken them to a cheap hotel in Spain. Rows and rows of sunbeds all crammed together with hardly any space between them. Not great if you wanted to put your umbrella down and your neighbour liked the shade. It was the cause of many a disgruntled comment. There was also the age old issue of sunbed reserving. Despite the hotel policy being that this was not allowed it was never policed. We were lucky enough to get a sunbed around the pool and the ones next to us had a towel on them all day but no-one ever came and used them. Very selfish and inconsiderate and I told the staff but they did nothing. The pool was OK but not huge and quite noisy when full of children. Out stay was on a B&B basis - thank goodness. We are early risers so were at breakfast by seven most mornings. If you left it too late - it was carnage. The food? Very mediocre. There was plenty of choice but some wasn't great quality. To be quite honest the eggs were absolutely disgusting. They were batch cooked and sat on the counter top behind. They were then transferred to the hot plate for a few seconds to warm though and put under a hot light. Except - it didn't keep them warm never mind hot. We didn't have any other meals there because if breakfast was anything to go by - we didn't want to waste our money. Just a short walk from the hotel you came into the main town area. Plenty of shops, bars, restaurants and amenities and we ate out there every night. The night market was great for walking around but don't be fooled - its not as cheap as you'd think. You really have to haggle and in a lot of cases - the shops sold the same things at a fraction of the cost. I would just like to end on a more positive note - ALL of the staff that we met, spoke with or dealt with - were fantastic. So friendly and helpful and willing to help. A real credit to the resort. What a shame that they seemed over stretched. Would we recommend or go back again.... sadly no.

Nice location and value for money

The room was a bit shabby and smelled odd. Even the sheets smelled a bit of mould.

The rooms are great. Our air conditioning broke twice, but was repaired quickly. Our friends had a swim up room by the other pool bar, lovely & quiet compared to the main pool area The sun bed wars are real. If you’re not down by 6am you won’t get front row. Nothing is done about it. But, if you can’t beat ‘em…. Sun beds are close together, but just enough space & umbrellas to move around, good drinks service too. The restaurant is ok. Some meals a lot better than others. It’s expensive!! There is a restaurant a short walk along the beach, with massage. Good food, good value Won’t be returning due to sun bed issues. But it was still a great setting!!

We spent 3 weeks in thailand, staying in 4 different resorts and this was by far the best. It is small enough to feel personal, right on the most beautiful beach, with several stunning pools and a range of ages/groups staying meaning there was a great atmosphere. We stayed for 4 nights but wish we had had 2 weeks here! The breakfast was delicious and the setting is unbelievable. We ate at the restaurant for dinner on the night we arrived as it was late - the food was just ok compared to other restaurants we tried in the area, but the drinks and the setting/views from the beach were great. We didn’t use them, but the kids spaces and splash zone looked excellent and the hotel definitely looked very family friendly. The location is great - just a five minute walk to the hustle and bustle of the small town of Khao Lak with plenty of local and western restaurants and bars nearby. In my opinion Khao Lak is the perfect base to explore southern Thailand! I would 100% stay at La Flora again and recommend to friends!

We stayed in a seaside pool access room, which was spacious, stylish, and very clean. The breakfast was good, and we really enjoyed having breakfast with our feet in the sand. The beach in front of the hotel is beautiful and well maintained. However, the hotel feels quite crowded. There are many guests and too few sunbeds. Most of the sunbeds are placed very close together in the area between the pool and the beach, which means there is very little privacy. Additionally, people were smoking various things in this area. If we had not had pool access, I probably would not have been fully satisfied. The staff are kind and helpful. The gym could benefit from an update.
