Great place great people!

We stayed in the Gallery Suite for the first time. It was incredible! Roomy, beautifully furnished, clean, and comfortable! The staff, from the owners Eleanor and Ron, to Charlotte. assistant, to the sweet crew that kept our room clean and supplied with anything we needed, to our cook, Lillian whose breakfast dishes were delicious, and down to the friendly groundskeeper - all made us feel welcome and spent time talking with us each day! Will definitely be back!

I can’t think of a thing!

This place is a treasure! We stayed in the next door property owned by the same people and both homes are so charming! The rooms were all quite big and they even gave us the room that adjoined another! Everything was clean and well organized.The bed was very comfortable and everything was just so thoughtfully designed. Eleanor and Ron were perfect hosts. If you have the chance, this place is worth the visit. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Overall this is a very nice property with some lovely room options. The location to downtown was good, especially as there's ample parking in Natchez. The host and his wife were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast in the smaller property down the street was homemade and delicious, and I especially enjoyed the opportunity to visit with other guests while eating. The reason for the rating of 3 is that the Devereaux Shields House is actually 3 different houses, which I don't think is made clear in the reservation process (I booked on aaa.com). The lovely house pictured in the ads is the main house, where I thought I would be staying. My room, however, was in the much plainer, less well appointed house next door. The room was fine, with a comfy bed and a nicely appointed bathroom, but I had been looking forward to the camaraderie of other B&B guests, and my house was mostly empty. In addition, there's a kitchen in the house but nothing to allow for making coffee or tea, and no microwave or plastic/paperware for eating takeout food that I'd brought back. So it wasn't quite the cozy stay I was looking forward to, which was disappointing.

We did not like this hotel/B&B The reasons: -upon arrival, we were overcharged $108 under the excuse that Expedia/Booking did not cover for the extra 2 people in the room. Of course, my booking included the 2 extra persons. -the place seemed very dusty. My daughter had an asthma attack immediately she entered the room. -the whole cottage is dark and cluttered with old stuff in bad condition -the water out of fawcets is oily and slimy. Disgusting! Personally I would avoid this cottage altogether. Nevertheless, Natchez is a lovely place to visit.

My mom and I went for a mother/daughter trip and stayed in the Alice room at Aunt Clara’s cottage. It was cozy, quiet & clean. We felt safe and welcomed. Breakfast was amazing! Becky took great care of us and was so kind! We were seated with another mom and daughter that we connected with and enjoyed their company. It felt like they grouped people together at the same table that would have common interests with one another. We had a wonderful stay and would stay again. One note that may be important to some is parking is limited & hard to manage in a large SUV. It’s located in a neighborhood that has close neighbors. Some street parking and driveway parking that can be tight and hard to maneuver. Beautiful home and elegantly decorated.
