Great place to stay and right next to the Square and shops in Angra

Went on top of roof for a great view! Wow, what an experience!

Convenient for the centre of Angra, although there is a steep hill leading up to the Pousada. Very helpful staff. Quiet rooms and location. Pleasant breakfast but too many cakes !

This was my first experience with a pousada and it was definitely a memorable one. It’s a perfect melding of history with modernity. The rooms were very well equipped and spacious, with a television and lounge chairs on the balcony overlooking the yard and ocean. The only drawback was the Wi-Fi didn’t work so well when in the room but once you went onto the balcony or got closer to the front desk, it worked just fine. I suspect considering the fort walls, etc., that the signal is blocked. That was really the only inconvenience experienced. We tried the restaurant on our first night’s stay and was quite impressed. The food and service were impeccable and we’d definitely recommend it. The breakfast provided was quite extensive, providing the meats, cheeses, eggs, breads, yogurt, milk, coffee, juices, etc. Unless you’re looking for a cooked to order breakfast, you won’t be disappointed. Overall, the staff was friendly and helpful but the morning staff seemed a bit more reserved than what we experienced with the evening staff. If staying in Angra do Heroismo, I would definitely recommend a stay here. Not only is there plenty of parking but it’s only a short walk to the center, excellent ocean views, superb food, and not far from the Chateaux.

We stayed in the Pousada de Angra do Heroismo - Forte Sao Sebastiao for a week at the beginning of August. Room - Our room was lovely. It was nicely decorated throughout and the beds were very comfy, However, it was VERY noisy. We were in the old part of the hotel and could hear every move of the people in the room above us, this meant that every morning we were woken at 7.30 am with them getting ready for the day ahead. Staff - The reception staff were welcoming and helpful with a good level of English. However, throughout the hotel there seemed to be a general lack of staff. The bar never had anyone there and you had to ring through to reception if you wanted a drink. In the restaurant service was quite slow, we left on a couple of occasions as we waited too long to get served. Food - Breakfast, little choice. The food in the restaurant was a bit hit and miss, e.g. clams delicious, cod tasteless & watery. The bar menu was good and inexpensive. Room service available. Location - The hotel is in a beautiful setting and has lovely views. It was a short walk to the harbour and into the town centre. Hotel - The pool area was small but lovely and had great views. The hotel itself is very interesting to explore It is in an old fort with many viewing points, giving fantastic 180 degree views of Angra and the Goat Islets. All in all we enjoyed our stay however, certain things could be better.
