Pousada Convento de Tavira - Historic Hotel

Excellent property, very impressive rooms and grounds. Dinner was extraordinary and breakfast very nice.

The hotel is perfectly amazing for Tavira. Great location too. So much history! Well maintained and updated, staff is extremely friendly and helpful, food is delicious.

My room was spacious but dark although that was not an issue as I came in to unwind and didn't want bright lights. The bed was fantastic, just like mine at home, so I slept really well. I think it helped that the old style wooden window shutters closed tightly each night so there were no chinks of light even if the sun was rising. I lazed by the pool for a few hours each day when the weather permitted and was surprised by how quiet and calm it was despite the roads surrounding us. Breakfast was plentiful and I also had a omelettes made to order a few times. I really enjoyed the carrot or beetroot juice options instead of the usual orange or apple. The evening meal I had was a feast and it was great to see Cataplana for 1 instead of the usual 2 minimum. I think the true test of the hotel though was on the Thursday as the weather was miserable. The hotel passed with flying colours as I chilled easily in the alcoves and courtyard, reading my books, having coffee and lunch without a care in the world - a weather enforced detox from a hectic lifestyle until mid-afternoon when the weather broke and I went for a wander through town. (The goat's cheese tart was absolutely amazing as well!) On that note, the courtyard, is a great space and it was normal to see breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks spill over into that area as there was ample space, tables and seating.

Not helpful. Unfriendly. Not accommodating. Want my money back

This is a very nice, historic hotel. There are a few things you should be aware of: 1. No bellman 2. The WiFi is good 3. The breakfast is incredible!

The staff were amazing. They gave a tour or property to show us all amenities and a brief history of the property. The property was beautifully restored with perfect details and well thought out finishings. Also, located in the old town and close to everything you want to see.

Excellent stay.

A great opportunity to stay in a historic building in a fantastic location making it easy to explore Tavira. Breakfast was excellent as were all the friendly staff. Quiet pool area making for a very relaxing stay.

This is a great hotel in just about every respect. Our only criticism is that the pool water temperature is too cool.
