Residence Inn by Marriott Chapel Hill

I paid thru booking.com and hotel charged me again anyway. Didn't return my call to resolve it, I went back in person and then they took care of it.

The Good: The staff are wonderful. Can't say enough about how well our questions were answered and needs addressed. While the hotel is older and the rooms are worn, it is also very clean. All aspects of our room from the bathroom to the beds to the kitchen to the utensils were clean. Well done! The beds were comfy, no sagging mattresses. Plenty of space, always good to have a fullsize fridge, a stove and an oven and a microwave and a dishwasher - all worked well. The location is wonderful. 10-12 minutes from UNC Campus, but also a Wegmans basically across the road for food needs. Plenty of parking. The lobby bar is open weekday evenings, and there is a surprising selection of liquors for a small hotel bar. We did not try the in-house dinner menu. There is also a pool table, which we enjoyed. We did not try the swimming pool, but it did look clean. The Average: the pillows were those collapsable kind and by morning you need at least 2 on top of each other; the towels were OK, not rough like some hotels; the breakfast was included but the food is only OK with limited choices. We supplemented with some of our own so breakfast didn't get monotonous. Only one waffle maker for crowded breakfasts causes a long line. At least 2 mornings the breads took forever to be re-stocked. I don't think the breakfast is staffed to deal with a full dining room. I guess if you are an early riser, it should be fine. The "could be better" - two sets of outlets in the kitchen did not work. Only the outlet where the microwave was plugged in worked, so we had to squeeze the toaster in as well. We mentioned this to management as we left - was only a slight inconvenience but still shouldn't happen. Laundry is available - 4 washers and 4 dryers on the 2nd floor. We never had to wait. 30 minute washer and 30 minute dryer cycles. $1.00 to wash; $1.50 to dry. Came in handy but it was annoying that if you chose to wash in hot water, the washer won't work. Only on cold and warm. It wasn't just 1 washing machine, we tried all 4. So obviously that's done by management on purpose - sneaky way to try to save money?

Would stay again very nice

I had an issue with my HVAC that never seemed to get rectified. So I spend 4 of my 5 day stay dealing with a random beeping noise that woke me up about 2x per night.

Staff was great. Accommodations were clean and nice. We were able to check in early and check out a little late. Very nice

Very friendly staff! Front desk, kitchen and cleaning staff were super helpful and kind! Great location for us and the daily breakfast is so convenient and tasty. Would definitely stay again!

Very comfortable studio, tasty breakfast, bar & restaurant convenient Only problem with location is need to make a U turn when coming from Chapel Hill on highway

It's such a calm, lovely space (though I have not yet experienced it on a football/crowded weekend). The breakfast is delicious! Every front desk person was helpful and courteous.

Beautiful and peaceful place. I love it. Staff are all nice and helpful . The breakfast team are awesome-Lawrence and the weekend lady( sorry, I did not get your name) . Thank you both for your service . I will definitely want to return to this place .
