Sessions Retreat & Hotel

What I really liked - bed was super comfortable for both of us, everything worked as expected, had a full kitchen (unexpected since Booking.com listed the room as shared kitchen and refrigerator), paint and decor was really fun, there's a pool (also unexpected - Booking.com does not list it because it is seasonal), large bar with delicious drinks and a live band, games to play outside, fire pits also outside, owners were super-nice. Something to note - Booking.com does not indicate that there are very different types of rooms at Sessions. There are a few double-units which have full kitchens (what we had). There is a also a very large building with regular hotel rooms and a large community space and community kitchen. It's all pretty cool. Very fun place!

Down side unfortunately - no ceiling fans and the room got warm in the afternoon and it was only the high 70s; traffic noise was bothersome. However, we were in the front set of "double cabins" so there was nothing to block the noise. Also, the owners did provide a floor fan and they are aware of the need for ceiling fans but they need to upgrade electrical first and that is their plan.

Nice cozy studio in a beautiful environment. Also, the staff organized a lot of various activities (from BBQ to Yoga lessons) for the host.

Just a minor comment, the kitchen space (in particular the table) was a little small.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay here. Everything was excellent from start to finish. The staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely went out of their way to make sure all our needs were met. The service felt personal and thoughtful, which made our visit so comfortable and enjoyable. I would definitely come back again and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great experience.

Nice and clean rooms. Love the communal kitchen, eating areas, and activities (billiards, pickleball, tether ball, basketball hoop, and pool). Dog friendly too!

This hotel is our new favorite spot! It's the low key vibes of adult summer camp, but with all the style and comfort of a NYC four-star hotel! Beautiful, photogenic rooms; sensitive eye for detail in all the decor; and fun nooks and finds around the property, from tether ball, to pickle ball, to a pool, to hanging hammocks, and a beautiful mini hike. I'd recommend this to any couple, single, or family looking for a retreat in the forest that offers that perfect balance between city comfort, and outdoorsy fun. Impressed enough to write my first review on here!

THERE WAS PLENTY TO DO AND SEE WE LIKED THE SWIMMING POOL, THE HORSESHOE PITS THE CORN HOLE PATIO. THE LODGE WITH POOL TABLE AND LOUNGE TO SIT AND WATCH TV. EVERYTHING GREAT THANK YOU.

I loved the eclectic nature of the room and its location near downtown Big Bear Lake. The staff were helpful and friendly.

Bed was uncomfortable, room was very warm and there were ants in bathroom.

We really loved our stay at Sessions and will definitely be back because our room was fun and they are very doggy friendly. We were also pleasantly surprised when the owners made us burgers on the house. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is because they had a large wedding party during our stay. Because of that it was tough to get the staff's attention when we needed help and the office was often closed or unattended. Even with that we loved their vibe and the staff couldn't have been nicer when they were available. Definitely want to give them another shot when things aren't so crazy for them.
