"More like camping"

2.0

We were confused by Hix Island House. It feels like the property has so much potential, but is not kept up well and completely lacks any sense of hospitality. As a result, what could be a peaceful and architecturally interesting space feels much more like an isolated bunker. We knew this was not a luxury resort and were looking forward to nature, wild horses, no tv and minimalism. However, our space was musty and had a giant puddle on the floor when we arrived. The furniture looks like it came from a budget overstock outlet. Weirdly, even with the concrete walls, noise also carries between the lofts. When we arrived in the mid-afternoon we wandered around the property and it felt desolate; very different from the peaceful vibes portrayed in marketing materials. Also, despite a rainstorm and the pleasant sound of frogs etc โ€“ we were woken up at 5am the one night we stayed at the property by banging and movement from upstairs. Staying at Hix Island House feels more like camping, including the safety risks. This property could be dramatically improved by some attention to detail, maintenance of the buildings and shared spaces, and a more attentive welcoming. We were so put off that we ultimately rented other accommodations.

"Hix Island House โ€“ A True Hidden Gem! โญโญโญโญโญ"

10.0

Hix Island House is such a hidden gem! From the moment we arrived, we felt completely transported into a world of relaxation and beauty. This resort truly allows you to disconnect and unwind, making it the perfect escape. A special shoutout to Carmen at the front deskโ€”she is an absolute gem and a true asset to the hotel. Her kindness, attentiveness, and willingness to go above and beyond made our stay even more memorable. She helped us so much, and we are incredibly grateful for her hospitality. The resort itself is stunning, with breathtaking surroundings and a peaceful atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at ease. If you're looking for a place to recharge and immerse yourself in nature, this is it. Without a doubt, Hix Island House deserves 5 stars! Highly recommend!

"12 out of 5"

10.0

I find the review that says this is not a luxury accommodation one of the funniest Iโ€™ve ever seen. Like showing up at the Garden of Eden and complaining thereโ€™s no Netflix for you to watch the Kardashians. Or showing up to become a Buddhist monk and complaining that thereโ€™s not enough Catholicism. Missing the point entirely. This place is Stupendous. 12 out of 5. Spectacular. One of the most beautiful places Iโ€™ve ever stayed.

This place is very unusual and romantic. Completely open air with mosquito net, minimalistic, set in a natural area that is lovely. The room was high up and got a lovely breeze. Want to stay there again!

I stayed in Solaris 2. Beautiful room with a โ€œwallโ€ that lifts up like a garage door, to a private nature view. Made me feel like I was sleeping outside, but was completely covered even when raining. Wouldnโ€™t recommend if youโ€™re a light sleeperโ€” but I loved the bird, frog, horse & rooster noises. I guess you could close the wall, but nature sounds donโ€™t bother me so I canโ€™t speak to the noise levels with everything shut. Loved the outdoor shower and how open everything was. Itโ€™s very easy to hear other noises in the hotel because of the materials and open layout. I was by myself, but would be worried if I was talking to a partner, or doing anything else, about others hearing me. I did yoga outside on my patio and was a little worried about bothering others, because I could hear other guests talking. The yoga classes are at 9:30 & 4:30 and you have to pay extra for them. The same sign up sheet from Friday was at the front desk when I checked out on Sunday. So, the classes are a nice bonus, but may not be available on the weekends. Just bring a back up and do yoga on your phone, on that beautiful patio! Also the pool was closed the day I checked in, because of algae growth (or something similar). So, if having a pool after sunset is super super important, this may not be the best place for you to stay. I get it thoughโ€” it would be very hard to maintain a pristine pool in the middle of a forest. Iโ€™m not complaining at all, just mentioning things I wish I knew.
