Shangri-La Guangzhou

The staff were very disinterested and at times rude. It felt like because we weren’t locals we were too much trouble to deal with. Often helping other guests who were behind us in queues. The buffet was very local food driven which is understandable. The beds were extremely hard. We asked for a mattress topper for the second night which helped a bit and I would recommend for westerners upon checking. A good location, but having stayed there several times before, I will not be heading back after this stay.

Very efficient check -in procedure for a hotel in China. Large comfortable rooms and a good night's sleep. Bathrooms are large with separate shower and bath which is nice. Ample elevators so there is not much of a wait at peak times. Not much to walk to but the grounds are nice.

Back in Gz and decided to stay again at Shangri-la Guangzhou. Overall experience was great. Great location, great service and gym was well equipped with operating hours 24hrs as advertised. Room was well furnished and housekeeping was attentive to whatever request we had. Food at summer palace was amazing, better than other Shangri-la hotels I've dined it. Well definitely be back!

Beautiful hotel, spacious room, and friendly staff. Only downside is limited dining options nearby. Hard to find a place for late lunch in the area.

Great Hotel very friendly staff, clean rooms and great dining

Stayed with my friend at here last weekend on an event. The room was fine (essentially old-fashioned 5-star hotel with good maintenance and acceptable smell of mold), but I must mention how the concierge really made me feel disrespected and resulted in this review. So, after my visit to my friend, I forgot a jacket at my friend’s room and left. My friend notified me about this and left the jacket at the front desk when he was checking out, such that I would be able to retrieve it at my convenience. The front desk told my friend that I only need to call out the room number to get it back. Then, when I came to get my jacket, Mr. Adam Chen, the receptionist at the time, told me in an impatient tone that I have to obtain a photo copy of the storage receipt to get what my friend stored. As I checked with my friend and told Mr. Chen that neither the recipient nor its photo copy was asked by the front desk to be taken at the time of my friend’s checkout, Mr. Chen became even more irritated and said it was simply “impossible”. It wasn’t until his colleague came to me and help me checked the storage book, and found out that the receipt itself is still in their book, and the room number was not recorded by the front desk at the check out. I was finally able to take my jacket after I called my friend and let him double checked his name with Mr. Chen’s colleague. From my understanding, such rude, unprofessional and chaotic experience should never happen to any hotel of this kind, and I would not recommend this hotel to my other guests coming to Guangzhou next time.
