"Family vacation"

We loved staying at Ala Kai B&B. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. They provided great dinner recommendations and places to visit. They also provided an excellent breakfast in the morning. The rooms were very nice and comfortable. Our teenage daughter enjoyed having her own room.

Had a wonderful stay. The trails to fantastic lava cliffs were amazing. The owners were always helpful and caring. My room was a comfortable retreat.

What a great place! Gorgeous view every day you stepped outside, great bedroom space with comfortable beds, and a spacious bathroom. Erich and Suzy were super kind and helpful with recommendations for things to do and places to go. The pool was fantastic and breakfast was delicious. Definitely a place that warrants a return visit.

"2 night stay"

Beautiful and peaceful location close to the ocean. It’s a little off the beaten path, but convenient to Volcano NP and Hilo. Erich is a wealth of information about the area and full of tips and suggestions. ( He recommended a local farmers market and it was a feast for the senses! Amazing local and unique products, produce, food and great people watching) The room was cozy and clean. Breakfast was rather basic with local fruit, hard boiled eggs and some muffins, but the view from the deck where breakfast was served was wonderful. There is a small trail system close to the B&B where we took our coffee to watch the sunrise.

The air conditioner was very loud in our room. Without it the room was hot and did not cool off even with windows open.

The owners were very helpful and gracious. We enjoyed having our own cottage where we could have our own refrigerator, microwave and washer/dryer. The owners told us about a great local restaurant where we ate dinner the first night and talked to a friend to find a good Thai restaurant for us when we asked for one. They also had a wonderful cat for us to cuddle.
