The Chancellor on Hobson

The location is great, central and easy to walk everywhere if you want to. There's underground parking available at the hotel too. Quite tight to get in and out, but it's still pretty good. The indoor pool + sauna was the highlight for us. We used the pool and spa everyday we were there. The sauna was really clean, hot and comfortable.

Some part of the building is a bit dated. We stayed at the newly renovated ends of the hotel. It's not major dislike though. It's still really good value for money for what you can get in central auckland.

I didnt get the room i booked and wasnt told about it. No washing machine or oven and room was very dusty. Can opener didnt work and i had 2 toasters. Also towel holder is in the shower and they get soaked

On a positive note, the room was clean had everything you'd need to self-cater and nice shower gel. Sadly, the building itself is more like a student hall of residence. I was travelling on business and it isn't a hotel that is suitable for a lone female, there is no restaurant which when flying in late and being up for meetings it a bit of a pain. walking out to get something of an evening in the dark in a city you aren't familiar with wasn't great. It is a budget hotel i totally get that but for just a few dollars more you can get deals on the waterfront, not somewhere i would stay again. It wasnt disgusting but just wasnt great for business travel.

I arrived 2 hours prior to check in. The lady I spoke with at Reception put my luggage in storage and me and my son were allowed to use the pool. I had emailed prior to check it was ok, but it was still nice to turn up and no issues. The guy on reception even changed my friends room to ensure we were on the same floor. I didn't ask. He just did it. Pool was great. Rooms were clean. The people working there really made it a great stay.

Not enough coffee and milk in the room.

Location was great and easy to get to from the motorway. Room was bigger than I thought it would be. Bed was a little soft for us but nice all the same. The staff were great with accommodating our request to have two rooms next to each other. The kids loved the pool and spa :)

The fridge in one of our rooms was doing something odd - every couple of hours the freezer part would make a really loud noise which woke us through the night, The other room was fine. The fridge worked fine so I would think it was just a freezer issue.

Location and very friendly staff

It was a run down room. The toilet was cracked, plaster on the walls not painted over. One of the towels was stained, another one was fraying and falling apart. The temp in the room was too hot overnight and woke up both nights to kick off blankets. The coat of the parking was excessive-even given a central location. The car parking area was mostly vacant so it didn’t appear to be a demand issue.
