It was close to SUNY Albany college that I was visiting. It was also close to shopping and dining. It was easy to get to from the southern part of NY state without having to go too far into city traffic.

Starting from arrival.. there was an open overflowing dumpster right up against the front of the building. The floor in the reception area had just been mopped and was extremely slick and wet but they were no wet floor caution signs. I wasn't sure if I was allowed to come in but the desk agent told me it was okay. When I had made the reservation online I requested either a room upstairs or near the front of the building since I was traveling alone and I felt it would be safer. The hotel responded that they did not have those types of rooms available at the price point that I was paying. When I came to check in I was told that I was going to be in the first room on the second floor which I thought was fortunate since that's what I had originally ask for. I entered the room and noticed that the linoleum tile floor had stains on it and when I went to open the curtains to let some light in I was horrified to see that my room was facing an abandoned area of the hotel with rooms directly across from mine that were empty but were filled with debris. Also right below my room was an alleyway that was filled with old broken appliances and various other garbage. I decided that I would not be opening my curtain during my stay. After I had attended the event at the college I returned to my room, the carpeting and the stairway that I had to climb were extremely dirty. Also there was a secondary access door into the hotel that remained unlocked throughout the night and was just at the bottom of the staircase that led to my room. This did not make me feel secure knowing that anyone could enter the building without proper clearance. When I turned down the bed covers there was a 5 inch long stain that was a white colored drip mark on the dark blue sheet covering the box spring. I am pretty sure it was human body fluids. I avoided going near that area but I inspected the rest of the bed thoroughly.
