Hilton Garden Inn Toronto/Ajax

The first impression I had walking in this hotel was that I felt the desire of the owners of is to make it obvious that they are not interested in investing in it, but to be sure to take your money. I stayed in many Hilton Garden Inns and this one shows signs of what I just mentioned. 32 cedar trees all dead around the pool area, chairs in the restaurant that are covered with a fabric so they don't have to upholster them, carpets in the room and chairs with obvious stains and, to top it off, they make a campaing for the guest to return their room keys in the elevators. You will say that this is not much to write about, I will add that these are NOT regular HGI standards I expereienced. Even the meeting board is an 8.5 x 11 sheet almost invisible on the wall facing the main entrance. Even the staff agrees with us when we mention these defects... All is not dark though. I found Gemma, restaurant server, to create a nice connection and knows how to interact with patrons. The two other servers were not as pleasant however they put the plates properly on the table... The Front Desk staff was, for the most part, afable and were saluting us when passing by...but it deos not appear natural.

It’s very clean and the staff are excellent.

The grounds keeping outside of the pool area could be better. There are dead cedars all along the fence.

Exceptional customer service, particularly from Brittany who helped me sort out a problem. Whenever we’re visiting in the Ajax/Whitby/Oshawa area, this is our hotel of choice. The rooms are very comfortable, it’s central to everything and again, the customer service is exceptional. We would whole-heartedly recommend!
