Hyatt House Sterling/Dulles Airport North

Breakfast was fantastic! Eggs, sausage or ham, potatoes, steel cut oatmeal, coffee, juices, and more!

Room was fine. Clean. Bed comfy. Pillows magnificent. I actually ordered 2 for my bed at home. Air conditioning in the room was great.

Room was not ready. Had to wait in the very warm lobby. Aggravated my asthma. Our roo. Was supposed to be on the 1st floor because of our handicaps, we were on the 4th floor. Woman behind the desk was less than kind to me. Get down stairs for breakfast early.

We had a very large and comfortable room. Breakfast was good. Staff were friendly and helpful.

We waited an hour at the airport for the airport shuttle because we did not know that you had to ring the hotel to order it. When we tried ringing the hotel, we could not understand the choice of option. Please make it clear on the booking.com information that you must ring for the shuttle.

I’ve stayed at this property many times over the years, and it seems now they charge for everything - $11 a night for parking, $5 for a bottle of water, etc, over and above what felt like an overpriced nightly fee. Additionally, the room I stayed in was quite basic, no kitchenette, and was an adjoining room. Noise level of the adjoining room is always amplified, and it was not pleasant being awakened at 0200 by whatever the neighbor was doing.

I booked a reservation for March 6 but had to cancel within about an hour due to a major international travel disruption while I was overseas. A Hyatt representative even sent a waiver to the hotel’s front desk confirming the charge should be waived. Despite cancelling almost immediately and never checking in or using the room, I was still charged. When I contacted the hotel, the manager was dismissive and refused to issue a refund, stating the hotel was fully booked that evening. The issue is not about the hotel being full — the reservation had already been cancelled quickly and a waiver had been issued. I also never stayed at the property. I have now escalated the matter to Hyatt corporate and hope they will review the documentation and resolve the situation fairly. I expected better customer service from a brand like Hyatt.
