Villas HM Paraiso del Mar

This was our fifth trip to Holbox since 2016 and our second stay at HM Paraíso. We love how laid back the property feels, with generous space between the villas and a beautiful expanse of beachfront that never feels crowded. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, which is exactly what we look for on the island. The staff truly stands out. The servers are attentive, kind, and genuinely warm without being overbearing. The location is also hard to beat. It is an easy eight to ten minute walk to the town center, close enough to enjoy everything Holbox offers while still feeling quiet and removed.

While staying at the hotel, guests are required to wear a wristband indicating whether they are all inclusive or not. The bracelets are somewhat uncomfortable and while we understand the purpose they detract slightly from the otherwise relaxed feel of the property. At check in, there is also a separate deposit required for beach and pool towels. We completely understand why this policy exists, but after a fairly long journey to reach Holbox, it feels like an extra and somewhat tedious step. It would be much smoother if this were integrated into the initial check in process, with an option to opt in or out. This was our second stay at the hotel and we were assigned the same villa as last time. Unfortunately, the sink, which we reported as broken during our previous stay, was still not functioning properly and appeared to have worsened. Water spills significantly, making the countertop unusable and preventing use of the shelf below the basin. There was also a persistent sewage smell coming from the bathroom, which was difficult to ignore. From a hospitality perspective, after ordering food or drinks, guests are required to sign a bill each time, even when staying all inclusive. Over the course of a nine day stay, this became surprisingly exhausting and disruptive. It seems there could be a more efficient system that allows all inclusive guests to avoid signing repeated zero balance checks. Bike rentals were another area of friction. On several occasions, we experienced delays or confusion when trying to rent bikes, particularly when renting later in the day. We were often warned that renting close to the 6pm return time would limit use the following day, which made the process feel unclear and unnecessarily complicated. Meal timing could also be improved, especially for families with young children. Dinner service beginning after 7pm was challenging for us, as our children became overtired and restless, impacting not only our experience but also that of other diners.

The hotel is in a nice location and the beach outside is superb. The staff in the hotel were very helpful and the hotel provides you with all the facilities to book for activities in the island.

The communication with the hotel before arriving was difficult, to try to book the transport, the telephone numbers are not updated in the website and it did not reply the emails. At the end the local transport, without previous arrangement, is very efficient as long as you know roughly the fair price. The floors are thin, our room was in the middle of a 3 storey “beach house”, the noise from the family upstairs with a toddler was a bit too much.

La comida, estaba masomenos. Pague el todo incluido y la vdd estaba muy limitado y no ofrecia gran cosa, pero lo peor esque dejas un deposito por las toallas, y a pesar de haber hecho el proceso como se debe es fecha que no me reembolsan ese dinero, hace ya un mes de mi estadia

Beautiful hotel in a stunning location, but the experience does not match the price. The front desk and restaurant are clearly understaffed, and service often feels stalled by rigid policies that prevent staff from making simple, guest-focused decisions. The all-inclusive options are unnecessarily complicated, adding confusion instead of convenience. Employee morale appears low, which inevitably affects service quality. Given the high cost, guests expect proactive problem-solving and a sense of genuine hospitality—unfortunately, the stay often feels transactional rather than luxurious. With better staffing, employee support, and management oversight, this property could truly live up to its potential.

La ubicación próxima a una de las mejores playas de Holbox, los camastros sobre la playa del beach club, el paisajismo en general del hotel. El desayuno es estándar.

Las habitaciones son muy poco accesible, ya que las escaleras son de caracol muy estrechas para las habitaciones y algunas están en un tercer nivel. Nos dieron una habitación diferente a la pagada. Habíamos pagado por una con balcón y a pesar de que informamos en recepcion al recibir la habitación nos dijeron que era culpa de Booking que ofreció características no disponibles. No nos solucionaron nada - No hay ningún baño ni regadera cerca del beach club, para ir al baño hay que ir a la recepción o a la habitación a una cuadra del beach club.

We traveled here for our honeymoon in August and we had such a wonderful memorable experience! The location is perfect for a relaxing romantic get away. This little island is gorgeous and full of adventure. The staff here were very helpful and kind. The food was very yummy, the rooms were well kept and the atmosphere was like a retreat! Beautiful. We 100% recommend staying here and would definitely come back :)
