Grandview Lodge

The breakfast was amazing! That was the highlight of our stay. Bree was wonderful. Very friendly, hospitable and a great cook. The place is awesome because of some of the interesting furnishings and its potential. The price was good for a B and B.

I saw a lot of cobwebs including on the lamp on our breakfast table. The front porch was covered with webs plus various sticks and dirt. The furniture on the porch also left a lot to be desired! The landscaping needs a lot of attention including the uneven stones leading from the parking lot to the outside rooms. The chairs and other items on the porch such as scooters and folding chairs were covered in webs. Our shower curtain had mold on the bottom and the heater in the bathroom was covered in rust. I learned how busy Bree and her husband are so I completely understand why certain jobs go undone but that place could be such a gem with more housekeeping. I can't speak for the condition of the inside rooms since we we were in an outside room. Some cleaning, dusting, sweeping and painting would make such a difference! We would like to come back - (mostly for the breakfast!)so hopefully we will see some improvements!

The Lodge has a great feel to it. As soon as we entered the lobby/living area, we asked if we could stay another night, and that was before the breakfast the next morning! The simple, pine-paneled rooms in the guest wing were offset with good bed linens, big towels and other amenities, including rocking chairs on the porch, where we spent time waiting for the rain to slow down. We definitely plan to come back!

Not much! We felt very at home here. The rain turned the gardens into a bit of a mess, but it still had a good feel to it.

They served a great breakfast in the morning. Nice fresh juice, coffee tea omelets, grits and yogurt, but I think the menu changes daily. Interesting decor. Ample parking. Friendly and helpful staff.

Shower did not work at all. Room felt dirt an the place needs lots of repairs.

This was an amazing breakfast! Not your usual bagels and pancake stuff! Gourmet chef prepared exceptional food! The atmosphere in the dining hall and main areas of the lodge were filled with interesting artifacts, antiques and NC mountain memorabilia! We spent much time enjoying the owners collections!
