Comfort Inn & Suites Grinnell near I-80

Location is fine. Workers/managers were kind.

There were tiny flying bugs coming in from the air conditioning unit on ground floor rooms. So check around the windows/curtains and the bed nearest the window. The night manager said it was probably from the rains, but either way, not really ideal.

It was clean and nice

I recently stayed in Room 222 at Comfort Inn and found it significantly below the usual standards I’ve come to expect from this chain. - The right-side bed mattress sagged noticeably, making for an uncomfortable night’s sleep. - The microwave was completely nonfunctional. - Most concerning, taking a shower triggered the smoke detector. We were assured that someone would come to assist, but no one ever arrived. Ultimately, we had to reset it ourselves by removing and reinserting the batteries. Additionally, the breakfast setup presented what I believe to be a serious health risk. - The scrambled eggs were burned due to the steam table running dry, suggesting they had been left unattended for quite some time. - The hard-boiled eggs were excessively dry and completely inedible. - Based on what I observed, it seems the staff is either not properly trained or not attentive to food safety protocols, raising concerns about overall hygiene and food handling.

The staff was very friendly and helpful about Grinnell. The vinyl flooring in room 110 had been patched and the chair showed signs of age. The breakfast had plenty of choices and the person in charge had it clean. Overall a very nice stay and I would stay there again.

Convenient

It was a nice place to stay after a long day on the road. It is quiet and clean, and the hot tub really felt great.

Location was close to baseball field.

Could use some updating but was overall ok for the price
