Residence Inn by Marriott Baton Rouge near LSU

We had an amazing check-in experience and overall experience! The ladies at the front desk made the stay! They were so friendly and kind. I would definitely stay here again if I come to this area!!

Room was great. Television didn’t work in the bedroom and we were told they could not give us a discount due to booking thru a 3rd party site. They did offer to switch our rooms but when traveling with kids, that would have been a hassle

Central location

I was stuck in Baton Rouge during the first snow storm of the century. I had the insight to get food and wine for two days. I was there to visit family. They were caught up in their world. I was on my own, except I had the Residence Inn staff on my side. Good grief, as usual, they were off the charts! Everyone from the breakfast setup person, Petra, to the maintenance man were on my side. Jeanette, the manager, as always, set the tone for the building because she is so kind and competent. All of her staff rocked and rocks! Nae at the front desk has a voice of an angel and personality to match. The sales director, Stacy, covered the desk as required and is so nice/competent. OK, here is the review. The place could use some updates but the heart of the place is amazing. Plus, you are 8 minutes from Whole Foods and decent shops by foot. The rooms are very nice. The breakfast is excellent. I was so happy to be stuck here for a snow storm. It was not my first stay, so I know they are outstanding every day of the week.

I have stayed here multiple times over the past five years. I will say the staff are unmatched in their friendliness and service. They are nothing short of awesome. I also love the location and feel my vehicle is relatively safe outside. The staff and location give the place three stars. I’ll give the facility two, at best. However, the cleanliness and condition of the property has gone way down. This place is in desperate need of an update, attention to repairs has gone way down and the rooms aren’t always well cleaned. I checked in this evening and found the following: dishes and silverware in the cabinets/drawers with grease and actual food still on them, cracked tile in the shower surround, stained tub, mold in shower caulk, broken AC intake panel, some white substance spotted on couch that had obviously never been cleaned, musty smelling room, bad smell in kitchen sink, some weird and large stains on wall near AC, a constantly flickering bathroom vanity light (it’s also not adequate light for a vanity) and no place to plug in devices near the bed. I did not switch rooms because, honestly, the last few stays have been about the same and I figured it won’t make a difference. I’ve continued to stay here, again, because the location is so good despite the tired property. But, the unwashed dishes in the cabinets has skeeved me out to the point that I think I need to look elsewhere for future visits. Sigh.

It was a good visit but it’s time for the hotel to do an upgrade on their rooms including the bathroom. For the price paid an up date is due.
