Property was nice and tidy and well located

Lots of unexpected rules that were not listed in the property listing, took us by suprise

Quiet, peaceful, clean and loads of character

Situated in North Adelaide, Paprika Cottage is very well located (although the noise of the low-flying planes was somewhat of a shock!), and the free bus service was much appreciated. The cottage is a fascinating building and had been very well and intriguingly restored. The radio playing on our favourite ABC station when we arrived was a nice touch.

We stayed at Buxton Lodge 30 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. In comparison, we felt that Paprika Cottage was somewhat tired and in need of maintenance, especially considering the cost. The taps over the kitchen sink fell off their spindles. The front door was extremely difficult to open and close, and the door handle was falling off, as was the handle on the bathroom door. The hammer noise from the kitchen taps was quite disconcerting; the central A/C was very noisy, and we weren't able to get the bedroom A/C working properly.

Old charm.

Given the kitchen was not true to heritage (rather a 1970’s Reno) it should be brought up to modern level. Drawers were sticky, no dishwasher and difficult to clean. The laundry pipe was blocked so washing machine overflowed.

Great history

It was so cold. When we asked about using the fireplace we were told it was at a cost after we had checked in and no mention of it prior. Then nothing more. No wood etc. for the price and how it is advertised we were expecting it to be a lot better. The furniture was ordinary, weird pictures on the walls from the 80’s of aircraft that have nothing to do with the history or the period of the place. Maybe it was just that I had higher expectations from what I read online but overall very disappointed.
