"Former prison makes a good hotel."

Tis is an interesting property - a prison converted into a hotel. Breakfast, Fika (afternoon tea), and dinner are included. Traditional and excellent. It’s a part of the Strawberry group of hotels.

The staff were great, very accommodating to a noise issue I had with the first room I was given. Everything was clean and well presented. Hotel food and facilities were great too. And Katajanokka is a perfect location to explore Helsinki without being in a busy place.

Unfortunately, I'm very sensitive to sound, and the ventilation system was very noisy in the first room I stayed in. There was no way to turn it off as it was a communal ventilation arrangement. They allowed me to swap rooms, and the second room was better but still not perfectly quiet. But that's just me, most people would never notice. But if you are sound sensitive, then you might find sleeping an issue.
