Lancaster House Hotel

Upgrade from basic room to very good suit. Totally unexpected. Food good in food works.

Hotel could do with some outside re painting.

Perfect location right next to the university. Nice room with newly refurbished bathroom. Excellent breakfast and gtge spa facilities are great.

The safe didn’t work

I was visiting my daughter at the university, so the location was perfect. The room was very spacious and spotless, the bed really comfortable. There was ample room in the bathroom to put your washbag and toileteries and to hang the towels. There was a good choice of cooked and continental options for breakfast. I had the egg florentine which were delicious. We had an evening meal in the bar and that was delicious, really tasty comfort food. What I particularly enjoyed was the roaring fire in the huge fire place in the foyer. It was really lovely to sit on the settees there and read my book. The smell of the wood fire was really welcoming. In the evening, there was also someone playing on the grand piano. Great relaxing atmosphere. The spa is excellent with large sauna and hammam, the pool long enough for a swim and really enjoyed the outdoor hot tub.

The view wasn't great but that is a detail that can't really be changed. I only realised in the small print that I had to pay for parking as I was booking through booking.com. parking is free if you book direct from hotel. That voided the "savings" made through booking.com. £12 a night is quite dear.

Staff support was exceptional and unsolicited. Very good.

A Full breakfast in room service was missing. Only a slight issue.

Great location for visiting the university. Easy to get into Lancaster bus or taxi. Gym and spa facilities good. Had an excellent hot stone massage. Good breakfast.

I think the menu at the bar could be a bit more extensive.
