The hotel was in a good location. The amenities were good.

The beds were so uncomfortable. You could feel the springs through the top of the mattress we had to go buy mattress toppers for the beds so we could sleep.

Staff was friendly and the location was perfect.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Fredericksburg for two nights, and overall the experience was mixed. First, the bathroom in our room had a smell that was honestly unforgiving. We asked the front desk for help, and a staff member came up quickly. He was friendly, said he didn’t notice the smell, but still sprayed some kind of freshener. It helped a little, but the issue was still there. The front desk staff were polite and helpful, but they definitely looked tired. Not rude—just visibly worn down, which you notice right away. We brought our dog and paid the $75 pet fee. That part wasn’t too bad, but the room itself wasn’t very big, so having a dog made the space feel tight. Breakfast was okay, especially considering it’s free. The waffle makers were nice, and the food tasted fine. The only issue was refills. The staff were slow to replenish the buffet trays, and at one point other guests were also asking for items to be restocked. One clear positive: the location. It’s actually great—just a short walk to the downtown park and the stores on Main Street. Being able to leave the car and stroll around was convenient. For the price, though, the stay felt high. We paid around $600 for two nights, and if we didn’t use our Capital One Venture X to help offset the cost, we wouldn’t feel the rate was justified given the room condition and overall experience. Not the worst stay, but we’d probably look at other options unless the room quality improves or the price is more reasonable.
