Cala Luna Boutique Hotel & Villas

We are currently here. We checked in and were told that everything could be found on the in room tablet. We tried to see our options but the tablet only stays charged for 1 minute and is dead. If this is how you find out things at the resort they should provide a tablet that has been tested before arrival. Next we wanted a shower in the shower bath tub. The shower adjustment nob fell off the wall and a spring fell out of the wall. No bath ability to use the bath. That evening at dinner we were seated incorrectly and had to move after being initially seated. Next we asked for a wine list. It took 2 times to get the list. We asked for more water (it is hot here) and had to ask 3 times to receive it. This morning at breakfast a server asked if I would like coffee. I said yes but it never came. My wife asked for milk for her coffee 3 times and the server was not pleased. Today we returned to our room and the broken shower was still in pieces. There also was not hot water. As of now, the shower is broken and the information tablet does not work. At the cost for this hotel, checking that your access to hotel information should have been checked before our arrival. The shower/bath is still broken. Possibly the problem was not addressed because the shower was not cleaned. Way too much money for broken equipment and poor service.

Our stay and wedding at Cala Luna was absolutely gorgeous and picture perfect. The Cala Luna team took care of everything- not one ounce of stress or planning needed aside from booking hair and photography but they also have recommendations for that. The wedding itself was decorated so beautifully- every little detail was perfect, no stone left unturned. Our guests raved about the hotel the whole time! We all did morning yoga and ate breakfast (best breakfast bar ever) every morning. The rooms were SO nice- we got the best sleep ever. The beach was so lovely and made for a great sunset. In retrospect I would have absolutely don’t our rehearsal dinner at Cala Luna just to have more time there. It’s very serene and peaceful. Carol and silivia were so sweet and planned the whole wedding and coordinated the day of. They kept everything moving and made it so easy to just show up and enjoy the day! We couldn’t be happier and recommend having a wedding here more.

This place is amazing! Our second time here and we got a villa this time. Totally worth it! The villa is spacious, clean and a private pool was so amazing to have. Cala Luna feels safe as we traveled with our 3 kids. 2 teens and 6 year old. We are already planning our next trip back. We had Jose as our tour guide to Rio Celest and he knows everything about everything in the rainforest and about Costa Rica.

We stayed in the 3BR Villa. Lots of space for family to spread out. The evening sunset cocktail experience is fun. Highly recommend the private dining experience with the head chef and his team!!! Food was amazing - all local and fresh. Really pretty place.

Beautiful property at the beach with excellent staff and cuisine

Amazing stay and can’t wait to return to this peaceful, re-energizing tranquil oasis. Michael was a gracious and hospitable front desk associate, amazing service from Daniel, Charlie, Chris and outstanding Chef Nacho who created a four course custom dinner from the fresh fish from our private fishing charter. Our treatments of Connectivity Thai massage with Reiki was fabulous from Jolene however the 90min massage of deep tissue, facial tapping, reiki, Tibetan bowls etc was indescribable with Andrea’s gifted, strong healing hands and voice …Muchas Gracias to Cala Luna …. On my list of repeat boutique hotels and destinations.

Cala Luna was overall a lovely stay. The service was phenomenal. Eddy went out of his way to arrange a jet ski session and was super responsive. The rooms were high quality with beautiful modern design and were clean. The location was just far enough away from the city center hustle bustle which was very relaxing. The sunset cocktail hour was a lovely perk. Some cons were limited breakfast options, food prices were too high (almost price gouging), transportation options into town were too expensive, beach was rocky/not swimmable, and free water was not provided in rooms. The bar at the pool closed at 5pm which seemed too early.
