Hilton Vacation Club Palm Canyon Palm Springs

Don't get me wrong, appearance wise this resort looks beautiful when you drive up to it. The grounds are spacious and very well maintained. The staff was courteous and attentive. Our room was a spacious one bedroom villa in the Palm building of the resort. There was adequate parking in the downstairs garage. So why the two star review you ask? My wife and I are seniors and had never actually stayed at a time share style hotel/resort before. We were on a two week road trip through Southern California. The hotel shows very well on Travelocity as I'm sure it would on any other travel website. We arrived on a Thursday to a fairly calm hotel with not too many guests and children using the central pool area. The very next day Friday that all changed and not for the better. It was Mother's Day weekend! Now at a smaller more vanilla flavored hotel in Palm Springs, that hotel might have been full also, but this place was so beyond full I struggle to find a word to adequately describe how crowded and noisy the hotel was. The pool was completely unusable for us due to the crowds. We don't hate children by nature. We have four grandchildren. There was so many kids in the pool all day long it scared us off quite frankly not to mention all of the adults that were crowded into the pool or occupying all of the lounge chairs. On Friday and Saturday mornings, there was a crowd at the gates to get into the pool area the minute it opened at 8 am. What made this all the more worse was that all of the families staying at this Hilton looked like they had invited friends and other family not staying at the resort, to come and crowd into an already packed resort. We saw tons of people with kids in tow, dragging in coolers and lounge chairs all day long as soon as the pool area was open. We stayed four nights and wished we had chosen a different property in retrospect. Three of the four nights we endured a family above us with noisy heavy footed children who seemed to be running a marathon in the room all day long. Please believe me, I am not exaggerating one bit. The ceiling between floors must have been insulated with tissue paper. The laundry services were out of order when we tried to use the washer and dryer at the hotel at least in our Palm building. Parking became very tight once the crowds hit. We knew going in that this was a Hilton vacation club time share resort that also happens to book non owners as well. What we didn't know is that on holiday weekends this place is a complete MADHOUSE. The management needs to take stock of the situation on busy weekends. Why don't they invest in a small adults only pool for tired road weary seniors who want to cool off and not be trampled by huge throngs of out of control kids. We are not grouchy old people just looking to complain. This property is way too crowded on holiday weekends and I suspect on most other weekends as well. We will never return.

We drove a large truck here from NY and found out there is VERY limited parking for large vehicles. They have underground parking for all the buildings but not for a tall truck. We were forced to park in the street and use 3-4 dolleys IN to transport our stuff completely around the other side of the resort. If you're in a compact SUV you will have no problems, this was specific to us, but it really put a damper on our enjoyment of the resort. We called for weeks to try to get an upgrade but because this was a holiday weekend, they weren't able to accomidate us. They did move us after the holiday was over and things turned out great after that. I will say, the entire facility still looks old and dated. The carpet looks old, the fixtures in the bathroom are old, and the kitchen really needs a re-do. But we did have everything we needed and everything worked out ok Verizon cell service is pretty much non-existant and the WiFi is horrendous.

I loved pool. Room service was great. The staff were friendly. I think this is a great place to stay for families. I recommend!

I thought I saw some stains in the bathroom. That was the direst. The pool was a little dirty I thought I saw poop in the pool.

At the front office they give me the wrong information regarding the building where we were staying so I have to go back to get the correct information
