"Very disappointing "

4.0

We have stayed at this hotel at least 5 times and have always been really pleased before. This time has been a real let down. On arrival the car park was jam packed and we struggled to get a parking space. Turns out there was a dance competition being held in the hotel. Hundreds of kids running and throwing themselves about in all the communal areas. Couldn't get a seat in reception or anything. I feel the hotel should tell paying guests if an event like this is on so that they can choose whether or not to book. We had booked a family room for 4 people. There were only 2 towels in our room. Surely when you know how many guests are in a room, there should be enough towels for them?!? Our table for dinner was pre-booked. The restaurant was very busy but it was clear there was not enough staff to accommodate that many people. We waited 20 minutes and still hadn't even been offered a drink. My husband ended up going to the bar to order the drinks himself. Another 15 minutes before anyone took our food order - really not acceptable. Husband and I both wanted the roast of the day - turkey & ham. Upon placing the order we were told there was no ham left. How can there be one meat but not the other? Surely there should be enough of both meats when it's the roast of the day! Where we were sitting, the sun was coming right in and blinding me. I asked if we could move tables. The first waitress I asked didn't even have the decency to come back and speak to us to say if there was another table or not. The second staff member eventually said we could move after speaking with the host but it took so long the sun had gone down and I had eaten my starter with my hand over my eyes. It just seemed to be one issue after another! I also didn't enjoy eating my dinner while dancers were screaming and doing high kicks at a nearby table wearing very little clothing. Not what I want to watch while trying to eat my dinner - there's a time and a place and it certainly isn't in a hotel restaurant. The waitress who took our food order also didn't put my daughter's ice cream order through to the kitchen so yet another wait! In fairness though, the food was tasty and the portions huge which was a saving grace. I really hope breakfast tomorrow morning is an improvement 🙏🏻 All in all, a very disappointing stay and would certainly think twice before booking again 😢

"Our new no1 place to stay when visiting Dublin"

8.0

Hotel is just off the M1. The family room was good and we got an amazing deal for a family of 5 including 2 course evening meal, breakfast and park tickets to Tayto Park. Room was clean, beds were comfortable and water in the shower was hot. Food in the resturaunt was great too. We all had something different and my 3 fussy kids cleaned their plates. Even breakfast was good. They had pancake machines which my girls loved, they never eat breakfast but 3 pancakes each we were happy. I'd a fry and it was tasty.... only negatives were shower gel was empty, toilet roll was half used and there was no milk in the room to make coffee and the kettle was half full with dull looking water... housekeeping on those points let it down. Think I will change my 5 stars to a 4 for that. Reception girls were professional and polite. So we will choose this hotel 1st time everytime from now on when we goto Dublin.

"Disappointing breakfast"

6.0

We stayed here for one night on a dinner, bed, and breakfast offer. The dinner was very nice, and I could not fault it at all. The hotel itself was very modern and clean. The only problem I had was that there was no shampoo in the shower; there was a bottle, but it was empty. I phoned reception to ask for some more, and they told me no problem, but nobody did arrive to replace it. That is not the type of service you would expect in a four-star hotel. Unfortunately, it was the one time I did not bring shampoo, so I was not able to have a shower that day. The next morning, we had breakfast. I booked for the 10 am slot and was a bit disappointed, as there was not a lot left at that stage. They had run out of porridge, pastries, and white pudding, so my breakfast looked a bit miserable that morning.

"Great Family Getaway"

10.0

We booked the deal for the hotel stay and tickets for Emerald Park and Dublin Zoo. It worked out at great value, and the tickets were emailed to me before we had even arrived. The hotel is really handy to get to, literally 30 seconds off the motorway. There was plenty of parking too. The staff were all really friendly and helpful throughout our stay, which really set the tone for what was a brilliant stay. The room was spotlessly clean, the shower was warm and powerful, the beds were very comfy, and although we knew there were other kids (as well as our 4 year old) staying on our floor, it was very quiet. The food at the Tara Lounge was spot on, I'd recommend the classic burger, the relish is delicious. Breakfast was great too, with plenty of variety and everything was fresh and tasty. The cinema club for kids was a big hit with our 4 year old, as was the park outside. We enjoyed our stay so much that we ended up booking an extra night, which was all handled quickly and easily at the reception. I'd highly recommend staying here, especially if you're travelling from Northern Ireland to Dublin for anything, it's only about 45 minutes on in to Dublin.

"Too expensive and difficult to find."

6.0

The hotel is at the exit of the M1 motorway. The beds are comfortable. The restaurant is good for an evening meal.

There was an air vent open at the top of the window which was out of reach. This let in the noise of the motorway below. The hotel is very difficult to find. There are no signs for the hotel until you have almost arrived. Coming from Balbriggan, you will have to take an extremely sharp left turn down onto what is signalled as the motorway to Dublin. There is then a generic “hotel” sign at the next roundabout.

I had previously stayed at the hotel a couple of years ago and enjoyed the facilities and close proximity to several family attractions so decided to rebook this year. Unfortunately our stay this time around was very much different. On arrival I thought we would grab a couple of drinks and catch the end of the Meath v Donegal semi-final. However, all available tables in the lounge were taken, there were a number of free tables but these were already set up for dinner. Nevertheless I ordered a couple of drinks to have in the lobby and asked for a rose wine only to be told that the hotel no longer sold rose which I found strange as it's quite a popular choice, particularly for ladies. A little later we came in for dinner. At this point I tried to order a bottle of sauvignon blanc only to be informed that the bar didn't have any and my choices of white wine were chardonnay or pinot grigio so I ordered the chardonnay. The waiter then returned to inform me that the bar had run out of chardonnay and the pinot grigio was the only option which I reluctantly ordered but at €32 it wasn't something I particularly enjoyed. We ordered our food and I asked for the pepperoni pizza. Starters and the kids' food arrived and were very nice but when my main course was given to me it was a margherita. This was an inconvenience but these mistakes happen. After about ten minutes I was then given a pizza with only pepperoni on it. I explained to the man, who I assume was the restaurant manager, that the menu said that this pizza was supposed to come with chicken, bacon and ham to which he told me that I must have meant to order a meat feast pizza but on checking the menu he saw that the missing ingredients were indeed supposed to come with the pepperoni pizza so again the pizza went back meaning that I eventually got my main course about twenty minutes after my wife. Again, I understand that mistakes happen but for neither the kitchen nor the restaurant manager to know what is actually on the menu is strange. After dinner I asked the manager for the bill but after waiting around for ten minutes it didn't arrive so I went to the till at the side of the bar and when I eventually came to pay I explained to the young waiter the issues I had and he apologised. I then went to the bar to order a couple of drinks to take to the lobby and after about five minutes, with no one else waiting at the bar, the only bar man who was working told me that I was next but he had another order in in front of me, presumably for the restaurant. Five minutes later he took my order so basically I had to wait ten minutes to get served. I ordered a couple of gins and was told that there were no clean gin glasses so tumblers were my only option. I asked for a gin with sparkling water and dash of lime for my wife and was told the bar had no lime cordial which was quickly followed with being told that the bar also had no sparkling water. After deciding on soda water instead I was then told that the bar had no sliced limes or lemons to put in the gins. While this was going on about a third of the bar area was covered in used glasses and it appeared that there was no one available to clean them or move them to a dish washer, not a great look in a bar. While in the lobby my wife told me that our room had not been vacuumed as there were broken nachos all over the floor. She informed the front desk who apologised and said they would send someone up immediately to vacuum the room. About five minutes later a waitress came over to us and offered us a couple of complimentary drinks for the inconvenience which I appreciated. On return to the room we could see that someone had been in to vacuum the mess but there were still several pieces of nachos lying around the room which they had missed which was disappointing. In addition to this we found that the air conditioning in the room wasn't working. It had been set to 17c but was not having any effect on cooling the room which lead to a disrupted night of sleep. On a more positive note, the food at dinner was very nice and every member of staff we encountered was both friendly and pleasant. I explained these issues to the front desk on check out and the lady seemed very surprised and offered to call the manager but we were pressed for time so declined the offer. After having such an enjoyable stay a couple of years ago we were really disappointed that this stay was pretty disastrous. Bar supplies aren't perishable goods so to run out of so many items is really poor and the bar was clearly short staffed as evidenced by the mountain of used glasses on the bar and the wait to be served. This combined with the issues at dinner and problems with the room really did leave us feeling very disappointed with the service we received during our stay and isn't something I've experienced at any other hotel I've stayed in. I emailed the above review pretty much word for word to the general manager a week ago and have not received as much as an acknowledgement from him so I think it's fair to say that the poor management begins at the top and consideration of guests is well down their list of priorities.

"Convenient and Comfortable Stay Before Our Holiday"

10.0

We stayed at the hotel for just one night before the start of our holiday. The property was clean, quiet, and well-maintained—perfect for a restful night before a long flight. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. One of the highlights was being allowed to leave our car in the hotel’s car park during our trip, which saved us both time and money compared to airport parking. Overall, it was a smooth and comfortable experience—just what we needed. Thank you!
