Club Wyndham Bali Hai Villas

It's essentially a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment in a manicured development near Hanalei. It was a decent home base for exploring the north side. I felt the price matched the overall value.

It isn't a hotel, and that isn't super clear from the description online. It isn't very clear how you'd categorize this place. I guess they are technically condos, but Wyndham facilitates the private owners renting them out as short term vacation rentals and as timeshares. It was very confusing, the takeaway is: 1. Don't go in expecting the typical amenities of a hotel; and 2. They are going to attempt some bizarre, incomprehensible sales pitch at check-in, presumably for some sort of timeshare operation. The language they used was so strangely crafted (I'm guessing by their lawyers) that the person pushing it seemed to lose the plot herself. There were vague offers of gifts and discounts, but once it was obvious to her that we were not going to entertain the idea, she quickly gave up and we were never bothered about it again. This was all done at a separate desk from check in where we were sent to get our parking pass. Seriously bizarre.

Our 2 bedroom unit was nicely appointed and quiet. Staff is kind and responsive. Appreciated the ability to text the resort for additional supplies needed, or any maintenance issues. Our microwave stopped working the second morning, maintenance arrived quickly, assessed the issue, and replaced the microwave within 1 1/2 hours. The resorts landscape is lush and green. We will definitely stay here again.

The grounds and pool are lovely, but with 4 to 5 chickens on our lanai most of our stay, we did not enjoy the noise or debris. The units themselves are nice, but very noisy with children up early in the morning, people partying at night and chickens day and night. )Kauai is known for chickens and they add a certain charm, however, many resorts "relocate" some of the chickens. The maintenance people came and did a wonderful job cleaning shortly after our arrival, but the chickens (and their mess) were soon back. We really didn't want to spend our vacation cleaning up after chickens in order to enjoy our lanai.

I was skeptical after reading some of the other reviews regarding dirty rooms and service people that weren't friendly - however I booked anyway and found everything to be the opposite of that. I booked a 2-bedroom condo, traveling as two couples together - and it was a fantastic stay overall. I used RCI trading points to book this for 1 week, in unit 220. We arrived after a long day of air travel approximately 7 PM and our condo was ready right away. It was was very clean, and had a mini-split AC unit in each bedroom and one in the living room common area. I felt it very necessary during any of the more humid parts of the day when we were home, or came back from a tougher outdoor excursion and needed a cool-down period, a very nice tough to have available. The showers are walk-in type, tiled and very spacious. The shower has a flip blinds type vent right at the top of the shower so you can open that and enjoy some cool Pacific air while showering - a nice touch. We did have an upper floor unit, and knowing there were people below us I did make a conscious effort to walk softly and try not to stomp with my heels like I might walk at home, I did catch myself doing it a few times and I suppose if you have kids you would need to stay on them about running around - I think you might easily bother people below you if you are just totally oblivious and selfish about it. There is plugs in the kitchen island with USB-A, but the other plugs were standard. The washer/dryer combo was very helpful, it takes smaller loads than you are probably used to at home, but it's great to have when you need to freshen up some clothes. They did include one single-use laundry detergent, I bet I could have asked for more but we had brought 2 single-use packs from home from a previous trip so we just used those. The kitchen was fully stocked with all of the tools, pans, knives, all the things we needed to be able to enjoy about half of our meals in the unit to cut the cost of eating out every meal. We made a run to the Foodland store nearby, using a 10% off coupon provided by the front desk - it made a huge impact on a weeks' worth of groceries for 2 couples on an island. We had all of the necessary kitchen tools to make egg breakfasts, one spaghetti dinner and one taco dinner, with lots of sandwiches lunches. The local Woodland has an awesome Poke counter you can get so many different types scooped into bowls for delicious and healthy snacks dipped with tortilla chips - I loved it. Parking was sufficient - it filled up at night when people returned home but you could find something, I never had to walk more than 1 minute. There are food trucks in the parking lot that rotate schedules, I really enjoyed some fresh fruit smoothies from the big silver food truck - that was very cool to be able to get in the afternoons when it's warmer. I read some complaints about roosters keeping you up at night. There are roosters and hens all over the island, there is no escaping them but I never found them to be annoying, it's part of the charm of Kauai. I think it's something you appreciate as part of the vacation, and you get used to it just about as fast as you get used to the time zone differences from wherever your home may be. The hot tub was very hot - and such a great atmosphere to soak in. We did participate in one of the hotel activities - it was 2 hours of a local musician and Mai Tais. This property uses a text system, they texted me when I arrived and I used that chat to request more dishwasher detergent and some extra trash bags - both times they were placed on my porch within 2 hours of asking for them. I visited the front desk a few times stopping by for other questions and each time the staff were very pleasant and helpful. I am going to book again soon for later this year or next year, I can't wait to be back. We are Wyndham owners in Wyndham South Pacific as well as Club Wyndham Hawai’i. Disappointment best describes our first stay at Bali Hai in April. Compared to resorts in Australia, this one looks tired, shabby in need of a good tidy. We had a one bedroom downstairs apartment, and very noisy upstairs guests who for whatever reason, moved the very heavy lounge and dining furniture at strange times night and day. The price paid for wooden floors and old fashioned heavy wooden furniture. The kitchen was well equipped although as tea - drinkers, an electric kettle would have been helpful and some fresh milk not that revolting ‘coffee-mate’ ! Best feature of our unit was the location behind the water feature and pool. Unlike some others, we loved the chickens!! We needed some help regarding on- line access to our Club Wyndham ownership but the sales representative who was assigned to us was less than useless and clearly only wanted to sell us more points. Shame! Bali Hai staff should take a trip to any Wyndham South Pacific resort and see how delivering service to owners is done. A cheerful hello and a smile goes a long way. We will return in 12 months to hopefully see improvement

Great resort, fantastic location, beautiful gardens and pools, spacious apartments with all amenities and very well maintained. Close to many beautiful beaches and the surroundings are stunning!

This is A+++ to get one more + the water pressure in the shower could be higher but no complaints at all
