a&o Hamburg Hauptbahnhof - Hostel

They need more staff as I was waiting like 45 minutes to check in due to only one person in counter. Also the laundry does not work which is very inconvenient. There is a young man Taylor in the counter who needs more training as he does not take the time to give the appropriate directions to other places like the laundry.

I really felt there should be much bigger guest kitchen if you are hosting ppl for such a big number. The kitchen was just kept for namesake, it is too small and there nothing expect one induction stove and microwave. There are no facility of drinking water on the floors, and you have come everytime down to reception to just get a tap drinking water.. You have to stand in the same long reception queue where receptionist handles the checkin and checkout... The staff looks not that suppostive... Having a lot of areas for improvement

Great price at a great location. Our room was a bit noisy though. Our window was facing an inner yard that had a noisy ventilator running all night. So we had to sleep with the windows closed. Since we had one family room all 5 of us, the room became quite hot with bad air.

Horrible experience

Absolutely everything on this property is filthy — one of the rooms had not been cleaned at all. Door was broken to the bathroom and no maintenance during the night available so how do use a public toilet in the basement multiple floors away. in the room, the trash and not been taken out with seven and hygiene products still there from the last group and trash and dust on everything. You have to make your own beds, and they give you a set of sheets, but the comforters are old and stained. The only positive of the entire place is availability of a decent washing machine and dryer. The lobby is crowded and the services poor… the elevator should not pass anybody’s inspection and even public areas such as the stairs are very filthy. You look out the window and see trash on every side and graffiti. Somehow a rather because of their price and the set up for groups they continue to be absolutely crowded and busy. I don’t know how because I can’t imagine anyone repeating!

Road works were outside the building

Felt like not been welcome. Stuck up receptionist. Abrupt. Doesn’t show interest. Berlin receptionist four times better then the Hamburg. Good luck to the the hotel with these receptionist behaviour.

Reception was friendly and the place was CLEAN. That's not standard anymore for hostels. The bunk bed was kinda like a cabin or kid's playhouse, so decent privacy for a 6-bed dorm. Shower was hot with good pressure, shower gel provided. Didn't have food there, but grabbed a map and got excellent tips from reception staff for jogging routes and must-sees.

stayed at this property for it being not to far from miniature wunderland about a 20 minute walk. The breakfast is very good continental.The rooms are clean and comfortable but no bedside light.The lifts are very small only meant for 2 people.lifts are dirty inside need a clean and fresh coat of paint.The price for this property was excellent.

I was aware I was booking a cheap hostel but the dirtiness of the common areas was really shocking. It seemed like they haven’t cleaned the floor of the elevator since they opened the hostel. There is also a bathroom in the bottom floor that was truly disgusting. We are in December so you expect a warm lobby where you can chill if you don’t want to be in your room, but this wasn’t the case since the lobby was extremely cold at all times. I wouldn’t come back, not even with the low prices offered.
