Hotel had lots of charm great location. Great staff.

No refrigerator in room mattresses could be updated. Not sure If there is twenty four hour access doors were locked early morning. Some 24 hour lighting would be nice. In the common stairwell areas.

Only the porters and receptionists who were friendly and helpful. Also the location in terms of where it was for restaurants

Terrible stay primarily due to demolition works in the neighbouring building and they started work incredibly loudly at 05.00am waking us up. This was after our first room smelt badly of damp so moved. The hotel manager was indifferent and disinterested in my complaining about this (not rudely or loudly) as we had a second night to stay booked. She only offered us to swap back to a standard room but when I questioned if this room would be damp too, she just shrugged her shoulders and stated they’re all the same rooms - by this I took it they were all damp smelling. I then requested a refund for the 2nd night so we could go elsewhere but she refused stating the construction work was external and nothing she could do about it which is true. However from our perspective we pay for a hotel room to sleep in, so if we can’t do that due to damp or demolition noise, what’s the point. I tried quietly reasoning with her about the situation but she rudely walked off! When I complained to booking.com, she then messaged me denying offering me a damp smelling room again and went on about Gov’t construction works out of her control. I don’t disagree with this, but she could complain to authorities about the start time to try and get them to start at a reasonable time for her guests, but given her attitude towards me, my guess is that would just be too much trouble! As the demolition work is in its early stages, my guess is construction work will be for the rest of this year at least. Pity really as all the other staff we met were great and the hotel itself has character as a colonial type building. The hotel should warn people about construction work nearby as is the norm in decent hotels elsewhere, then people have a choice. If you don’t like damp smelling rooms or being woken up at 05.00am by builders ….maybe book elsewhere!!

WARNING - loud construction.work in neighbouring property started at 05.00am on our first night!! Our first room smelled so badly of damp that we could not stay in it, so the helpful receptionist and porter moved us to a better room. Sadly this turned out to be even worse due to disturbed sleep from builders. Hotel manager only offered us another internal room which would probably smell of damp too as she stated ‘all rooms are the same’. We said we will move on for our second night but she refused a refund. She was quite rude and disinterested about the hotels ability to provide a room that didn’t smell and repeatedly stated the Govt building works were external and she had no control about it which we accept and true…..but we should have been warned at the time of booking and given a refund for one of our two nights booked. Totally unfair to not inform guests of construction work and only offer a smelly room with no refund. We left and found a hotel elsewhere.but out of pocket by $98. Think carefully before you book here as the construction works next door are in early stages of demolition.

Tolle Zimmer, schöner Pool, perfekte Lage in der Stadt. Leider hatten wir nur eine Nacht.

Jaded. Both property and staff. Desperately needs some TLC and upgrade. And better housekeeping for cleaning. More effort would improve it
