Breakfast food and service was exceptional.

As others have commented decor looks a little tired

A quirky little property with lots of rural charm . Good location and perfect for anyone bringing a dog as plenty of walks nearby with village green just opposite . Sadly didn't have time for dinner but breakfast was delicious .... lady serving was most accommodating and nothing was too much trouble for her .... as was the lady on reception . Local village shop within walking distance .

This is a rural dated property so some of the furnishings were a bit dated but one could say it added to the charm .

We were return visitors. This time we were walking the St Cuthberts Way and stayed here at the end of our first days walking. Nice bar, v good food. Very friendly efficient and helpful staff. Big shout out to the barman for his v accurate knowledge of local public transport. Extremely helpful. Best breakfast of the week!

The room was very comfortable, but only had a skylight window,

The breakfast was poor. I had the kipper for breakfast; it was dreadful, overcooked and like "leather". It must have been "very old" and NOT fresh. I should have sent it back.

Staff were helpful and couldn't do enough for you, they were friendly and professional. The food was great both breakfast and evening menu. Lots of choice, tasty homemade meals and great value for money.

Good location, reasonably priced really good breakfast.

There is no onsite presence after bar closed. Had to go downstairs at 1.40 in morning and ask some men to kindly go to bed, which to be fair they did, however this should not happen and they may not have been obliging may also have been a different story if it was my husband who had approached them. So be aware only guests onside from 12 when bar closes.
