Cormorant Boutique Hotel

The location is genuinely beautiful and there are pocket views of the Pacific — I’ll give it that. But the reality of staying here didn’t match the marketing. There is a photo of a pool on Google that is completely misleading — there is no pool. I’ve already submitted a correction to Google to have it removed, but future guests should know before they book. The noise — both street and interior — was a significant and persistent issue throughout my stay. It was loud enough that the hotel thoughtfully provides earplugs in the room, which tells you everything you need to know. For anyone who values rest and quiet, this is not the place. Service was consistently transactional at best. The warmth that other reviewers mention was not my experience. At Birdseye rooftop I waited approximately seven minutes without even being acknowledged, and general interactions with staff throughout my stay felt perfunctory rather than welcoming. The concept is charming and the location is prime La Jolla. But future guests should go in with carefully managed expectations — particularly around noise and the accuracy of what’s advertised.

From normal conversations to laughing and arguing to yelling, we heard it all. You can hear absolutely everything coming through every wall. The worst was the noise coming from outside all through night. The partygoers walking by, it’s like they were in the room with us and then the seagulls screeching in the early morning. We travel a lot and have experienced noise in hotels before but this place is the worst by a large margin! The guy and girl at the front counter didn’t give the slightest crap about the problem and acted as if our complaint was too much of a bother for them. We will never stay here again.

It was spectacular. Exactly what you would expect for a quiet getaway. Staff was great, vibrant, and extremely accommodating. Even had a late night therapy session with Jess V when I was having a panic attack:)

This is not a boutique hotel—it’s an inn pretending to be a boutique hotel. The sheets are synthetic, the bed is peeling in many places, and the mattress has seen better days. There’s no proper air conditioning, only a noisy window hose unit. In the morning I discovered that the shower also doesn’t work well, and I couldn’t even shower. In my opinion, this hotel deserves one star at most—if that.

The room I was assigned initially was next to the restaurant and the window looked out to a table in the restaurant , I changed rooms but it was directly beneath the restaurant and they shuffled tables and chairs about until midnight, on top of really hard pillows , sleep was non-existent. After checking out I realized I had left my phone charger and water bottle in my room; The front desk staff was completely disinterested in retrieving my items and I left without them being returned to me. The attitude was remarkable dismissive and smug. Very dissatisfied for the price.

Terrible experience. Rented room 101 and could not sleep at all due to noise above from the market place so I am checking out one night early so I can get some sleep some place else and this was a very important trip with my daughter to celebrate her getting into UCSD. This really ruined our trip and we are both tired from no sleep. Do not let them give you Room 101

Best location in La Jolla. Balcony ocean views, rooftop bar/restaurant, and the beach is an easy walk. Food is everywhere — dinner across the street, rooftop at Cody’s, gelato 60 seconds away, and brunch next door. Third year in a row staying here for our annual trip.

Great location, clean and good sized room- great front desk staff!! This was the perfect location for anyone staying in La Jolla!
