Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Jacksonville Airport

Location, right next to the airport.

Sole reason we booked our stay was for ease and convenience of making a very early flight. They offered free shuttle service to the airport. We checked in and reserved/confirmed a spot on the shuttle. When we went down in the morning we were informed “the shuttle was cancelled and that we were on our own”. Unacceptable. No effort was made to rectify the situation. We were told to call a cab or uber…..again unacceptable. No effort was made by staff. We had to scramble to make our flight. Very disappointed. 0 stars.

On Saturday night at the Jacksonville Airport Microtel, I experienced excellent customer service that’s comparable to service that I’ve seen at hotels three times the cost. Sunny, the night front desk clerk, found me a clean room at a reasonable price. Also, even though I arrived at night, he offered me yogurts that were in the lounge refrigerator and that they usually serve for breakfast. This kind gesture meant meant that after a long day of travel, I did not need to get back in my car and drive for food. When I called and spoke with him the day after my trip, asking if anyone had turned in a lost item, he assured me that he would look in the parking lot and ask the morning front desk clerk and housekeeping if they found it. (It was subsequently found in another hotel in which I had stayed earlier in my trip.) Paula, the morning front desk clerk, kindly assisted me during breakfast the next morning, as did the housekeeping staff. The complimentary breakfast selections could appeal to a wide variety of appetite and tastes. My room was clean and offered everything needed for the night, including movie channels where I got a chance to relax and revisit a Pirates of the Caribbean movie. I got a good night’s rest. The next morning, the patio next to the hotel pool was a pleasant place to enjoy the breakfast. The pool looked inviting, and if the weather had been warm, I believe I would’ve taken a dip. This hotel has been around for a long time. I was told that the rooms will undergoing a welcome renovation. A new coat of paint could help freshen up the the room in which I stayed. Also, offering convenience, security, safe parking, and great location, I’m thankful for this Microtel that has Macro customer service!

Location, beds were not bad.

There was a horrible smell in the room and there were live roaches. There was no outlet cover on one outlet, a hole in one of the other outlet covers. Walls looked horrible. There was a huge stain on the desk chair.
