Palm Cove Tropic Apartments

The property is in a good location just a short walk from the beach. The pool area is its saving grace.

Unfortunately I had a ground floor unit and the garden has grown and blocks out all the light and fresh air. The unit has a really bad musty, mouldy smell so I spent as little time as possible inside. The bathroom has a rotting vanity. Really needs a reno. Only ever saw the staff once when checking in. They seem to work very limited hours. I wouldn’t rely on them to book any tours…better off doing it yourself.

Small, private, off the main beach front but easy walk to shops and restaurants

Lack of communication. We arrived on a Sunday morning early. Thought we’d check out the location and see if we could get an early check in. I understand normally it’s 2pm. No number to call apart from emergency. A passing guest gave me the Belle number. They assured me an instruction email would be sent…still waiting! Returned after 2pm and another guest pointed to the key envelope at reception, which I wouldn’t have seen

It was at a quiet end of Palm Cove and easy to access. The pool area looked great and the bed was quite comfortable.

Let’s be fair - the complex is dated with I’m guessing each unit privately owned and leased in the letting pool. Obviously I can only comment on the one we stayed in. It was extremely ‘tired’ with very little upkeep maintenance. 5 vertical drape panels missing also the opening / closing handle lever was completely broken off and just placed in a handy corner so I could use it to “push” the drapes open or closed. Had to wash plates and mugs prior to use. Floors grubby - just walk to the shower and watch the black crap wash down the drain while carefully navigating a loose drain cover. Perhaps other units were better maintained.

Excellent king bed and very good location. Value for money given priciness of newer and more flash apartments nearby. The managers responded to minor requests fairly promptly. Secure under cover parking. Heated pool.

We were issued one key and locked ourselves out on first day. The reception is closed on weekends and the 'emergency mobile number' NEVER responded. After an hour or so someone turned up at reception. The emergency number should function at all times. Also on weekends with no reception, swimming towels should be left in units. The apartment is older style and needs some maintenance - doors that don't shut properly, blind fittings. However for price, unit was good.
