Holiday Inn Express Munising-Lakeview by IHG

Day and night staff were all great and very helpful. Hotel was starting some renovations, but that didn’t interfere with the experience. Nice variety of breakfast options. Location was nice being just outside of town. The view from the back of the hotel of Lake Superior was great.

Positives: Staff were friendly and accommodating, coffee station in lobby was amazing, breakfast was amazing, we had a lake view room with a nice view (if no one else was outside). Cons: Pool area needed to be cleaned, room was noisy (thin walls), I could hear TVs and talking. When we sat outside, we saw people on the patio below us and could see directly to the side the people also sitting outside. It was somewhat of a drive from Munising. Realistically, a million people descend on Munising in Summer - the town has less than 2,000 residents. The whole town is a madhouse and this hotel is just part of the insanity of Summer in Munising. I think they did the best they could, but it was a lot of money and they can charge this based on supply/demand.

This was the best Holiday Inn Express I’ve had the privilege to visit in several years. Beautiful location. Patio off the room with a lake view where you can witness beautiful sunrises. Very spacious room. Clean inside and out.

Great location with a fantastic view of this part of Lake Superior. The staff was fantastic, and the free breakfast was up to Holiday Inn standards. We were given an ADA room, though we're not ADA needs. The shower was a sprinkle, likely and ADA standard, hated the shower. Make sure you don't get an ADA room unless ypu don't take showers or baths.

The view is great but hotel needs an update. Everything clean but dated. The worst part is the air conditioning poor. Doesn’t cool down in middle of night

Good lake view and friendly staff, but interior needed renovation. Elevator was clunky, door to room left a crack when closed and locked.

I thoroughly researched available lodging options once I’d narrowed down Munising as our ultimate destination in the UP. My decision was between this hotel and Comfort Suites, also on the lake but DIRECTLY on the lake, with a beach. This hotel is on a bluff overlooking the lake. Both hotels are somewhat out of “town” itself. We had a room mix-up in another city and needed to add a 3rd night fairly last minute. The staff was very helpful over the phone, even tho they were not able to keep us in the same room all 3 nights. But we kept the same room type, which was a balcony room overlooking the lake. We arrived before the check-in time, but our room was ready, and we loved it. We got to have the balcony door open for 3 nights -what a treat after leaving humid Ohio! On the day that we had to switch rooms, Chelsie at the front desk had us leave our bags in our room on a luggage cart. When we returned from a day in Marquette, that luggage cart with our things was safely ensconced in our new room! Chelsie is an exemplary front desk employee. Breakfast was quite good, with some of the same items every day but also some variety. We didn’t pay attention to the time on our first morning and got downstairs just as breakfast hours ended. The kitchen staff noticed what had happened and approached us, asking if we’d like omelets and biscuits and gravy, yogurt and coffee. The hours were up, but they had food left. That was SO NICE of them and way beyond what we expected. Every encounter with an employee brought that same level of concern and helpfulness. We had a super time at Holiday Inn Express Lakeview in Munising and would love to return.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and the room was clean and comfortable. The view from our second floor balcony was stunning, and our family had a wonderful overall experience.

Second time staying in this property in a year and will come back again if visiting this area in the future.
