Roganstown Hotel & Country Club

Have stayed here 3 times. The first 2 times were super but we were a lot less impressed this time. The car park is full of huge potholes so that is not a good start. Room was adequate. The biggest disappointment was the restaurant this time. We were initially placed on very low seats which would have made eating a meal very difficult. We moved ourselves to a better table with proper chairs. Food and service was just average. The only main positive thing I can say about this place was that the male receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful.

In December of 2025, our travel agent booked our party of 4 a 2 night stay at Roganstown Hotel & Country Club for the last 2 nights of our 2 week trip in Ireland. The couple we were traveling with had stayed there before, so they were looking forward to returning. After a very long day in the car sightseeing (5 hours), we arrived tired and ready for check inat Roganstown, only to be told that they had over booked reservations and we had been bumped. But we were bumped because a large party of golfers had brought extra guest that didn't have reservations, and instead of inconveniencing them, they bumped us, a smaller party. They knew about this 4 days before we arrived but didn't give us or our travel agent the curtesy of letting us know, they just booked us into another hotel. So we got back into the car and drove 20 minutes to what we were expecting what at least a comparable hotel, it was not. It was a dump! I'm not going to mention the name of the hotel because it's not their fault, but this so called "beach hotel" was horrible. I’ve attached 4 photos showing holes in the walls, old and dirty shampoo holders still left in the wall after new ones were installed, and a sink that only came up to just above my knees with zero counter space. And the room smelled awful! Unfortunately the picture I took of our view, which was of their dumpsters and other garbage, didn’t come out. Bottom line, we just couldn’t stay there, and spent over 2 hours trying to find somewhere else to stay, with no success. Luckily our travel agent found somewhere else for us to stay the first night, but unfortunately that hotel could not accommodate us for the second night, so our only choice was to go back to Roganstown for the second night, although after the way we were treated, we really didn’t want to. So much for a relaxing last 2 days and not having to change hotels. We were comped dinner and a bottle of house wine when we went back to Roganstown, but that wasn’t their idea, my husband had to ask for some kind of compensation for what they put us through. Shame on them, made us feel like we didn’t matter.
