Holiday Inn Express & Suites Kent - University Area by IHG

Good

Was recommended by owners at the I-76 Antique Mall and was VERY pleased. Room had great ligh blocking window treatments, lots of pillows, was very clean and quiet. The ONLY thing that disturbed me about the room was that the A/C fan was kinda noisy even on low. I did not use the pool but it looked like it needed to be vacuumed. The continental breakfast was awesome.

This place worked for us , but actually for the price we could have done better. It was quite, and the beds were comfortable Staff although checking in was our only contact with them were great.

We received excellent service from our arrival until we left for home. The front desk staff person was very patient kind and helpful. Everything looked new, it smells good and clean. The best part was the beds...most comfortable mattress of my life!

A very quiet, clean hotel with large spacious rooms. Housekeeping service or freshening of towels, etc., daily. The location is perfect and only a few miles away from Kent State. This would have been 5 star had their breakfast options been replenished better. Every day I needed to ask for hard boiled eggs. There were very limited amount of bagels/English muffins available. Upon check in, we asked if there were glasses other than the very pliable plastic glasses in our room. We were told "no" and when my husband found some hard plastic glasses by the juice dispenser, the hotel staff watched to prevent him from taking a few. Needless to say we took several later for our room!

I had reviewed this hotel a year ago and gave it 5 stars. Not this time…unfortunately it’s going down hill for a lack of ado upkeep. A friend also stayed here in another room so I’m going to break this review into 2 reviews (for 2 rooms). We both agreed Free breakfast was decent & like the larger sized refrigerator in the guest rooms. Now why I’ve down graded my review: one of the buttons in the elevator kept falling off- so they taped it…, my room- there were beer cans left in my fridge (some people may not see that as a negative)- for me it means you didn’t clean thoroughly; the toilet stopped flushing- guts in tank very old and a part broke, the shower head was older and looking a bit grimy. Friends room-lock on the door only locked from the inside- after a 1/2 hr of trying to fix it the maintenance man asked if they’d switch rooms; switched rooms and the maintenance person came to new room unexpectedly/unannounced and walked right in w/o knocking & waiting for a response to give a chance to announce they were in the room- maintenance persons reaction was ‘oh you moved in here’…, it took a few hours for the room to cool down to the temperature they wanted to set it at for sleeping. I’ll give this hotel another chance but if the next experience is similar or worse to this most recent one- I won’t be staying here again.

A little pricey

A great choice for travelers coming off I-80. Very convenient, yet far enough off that highway sounds are muted. Also, just steps to a good Mexican restaurant. Good beds, clean bathroom. Excellent overall.
